Have you tried redownloading the GoldenEye Setup Editor v2.0? Sometimes, if a connection error or timeout occurs, your download gets cut off, but you aren't told about it. When you try to open or install the program you downloaded, you'll receive error messages. I'd suggest that you redownload and give it another go.

You need DirectX 9.0c or higher. You shouldn't be using anything from dx8.

I bet to differ Smile

Personally, I wouldn't be forcing people to upgrade to dx9c when you can use dx8.1 plus 2 extra .dll files and get the program to work perfectly. Upgrading your DirectX is a PERMANENT upgrade (well, for all practical purposes it is permanent) and if it causes you other probelms with other programs, you're seriously screwed. Esp. somebody running Windows 98 - I definitely would not recommend upgrading to dx9 unless absolutely necessary.

I can't remember if subdrag included these with the official release, but you need the following 3 .dll files in order for the editor to work with DirectX v8.1

d3d9.dll
d3dx9_31.dll
d3dx9d_31.dll

These may or may not work with DX7, I'm not sure. I've only tested on 8.1

Let me know if you have these 3 files in your editor folder - if not, myself or Subdrag can send them to you. And be careful if you decide to google search them - there are older versions of these files floating around out there which won't work.

Speaking of that, he might also want to make sure the hardware acceleration on his video card is turned all the way up. (its in the troubleshooting tab of your video card properties)
