Hello,

I wanted to buy a Gameshark 3.3 from ebay, but there seems to be a few diffrent versions:

Some are produced by Interact, others by Datel.

I read somewhere that one of these does NOT work with Rom Dumping, like the cheat on Goldeneye Citadel on Multi.

If anyone could help, this would be great.

Thanks in advance

Interact is U.S., but may be an earlier version.

Hm, is this important? Or can I simply update the Hardware?

Hmm. This is tough. My own experience tells me that if it doesn't have a working LED light, then you can't use the port on the back. It needs the LED function from what I can tell. Perhaps others here has different opinions. Be careful before buying one though. I'm stuck with 3 that don't work.

Well, if I would use my second GS (without LED), if I plug that to y computer, I know the numbers won't be shown, but will it work if I would hack codes from my computer?

The actual LED shouldnt have to do with anything. For example, I ripped off my LED and it still works fine (it had bugged me Smile ). The LED works as an indicator though, and it is unlikely that a LED will burn out, so if a GS LED stops working, it probrobly means something else in the circuitry has burned out or is not connecting right for the LED not to work, and by common situation, may most likely mean that the port wont work either. If your GS does not have a LED, then dont worry about it. As long as you are not having other problems, your GS should work with any of its features.

I have heard many comments now about Gamesharks with LEDS dying, the LED Gamesharks have something added to the circuitry that probrobly is buggy, and causes a greater chance of a Gameshark's death, lol. Hmmm, I wonder if is possible to bypass the entire LED buggy circuitry, I wonder if there are any Gameshark scematic sheets out there: Twisted Evil .

In terms of the LED, the problem is that the actual circuit board does not have the LED part installed. That means there is a bubble with nothing behind it. None of my sharks with the missing LED part work with the port in the back. After talking about this, part of me wants to dig them up and hook them up again just to make sure!!

Like GE Master said, this is definitely a tough question.
Any GameShark v3.3 that I've owned that hasn't had an LED didn't have an active comms port. But even if the counter doesn't light up, it doesn't mean that the LED is missing. In fact, my newest cheating devices both have non-working LEDs, but are able to connect with my PC. I've never heard of anyone experiencing difficulty while attempting to connect v3.2 to their computer, unless it's either corrupted or a factory error. The v3.2's are a completely different story. So long as it has that white block behind the plastic bubble, you'll have an LED - working or not. This is a good thing, from my experience. If it isn't there, then you're likely to be the not so proud owner of a P.O.S. GameShark Pro.

Maybe the package difference is the way to tell if it has a LED or not?

GE MASTER can you please tell me is this the packinging the 3 GS that have no LED came in?
This goes for anyone who has no LED in their GS PRO 3.3

Packaging means nothing.
The better model v3.3's are usually packaged in the shiny box that includes the "How To Hack Like A Pro" video cassette tape. Later on, they stopped giving out the video and stuck the device in a smaller box. I believe there were two different designs. Towards the end, the box was much darker and featured a shark swimming through a purple data stream on the cover. These are the ones that are touch and go. You may end up lucky and nab yourself a good cheating device. Or, if you've got no luck, it'll be a bad one. It's comparible to a box of Cracker Jacks. You're not gonna know what you've got until you open the box.
