My multiplayer streets level is very near completion.
Now a quick question - do you guys prefer that vehicles in the level be explosive or not explosive? I'm not going to have many vehicles but there will be a few.
My personal preference is for explosive but with a high health value so that it takes 20-30 shots to blow one up. But I'll leave this to a poll. |

Well, you can tell if you have played perfect dark, cars are destroyable, although, in GE the cars do not explode (From what I know of). So, we will see how to vote goes Looking forward to it. _________________

Actualy most of the cars on streets only explode with explosives. There is one that can be shot with the usual 4 shots and blow up, its orabnge near the end of the level.
I think They should remain like this, explosive but only with explosives (afterall you can't add a special place where the fule tank is can you?)

eh, if it can only be destroyed with explosives that somewhat defeats the point.
I'd say 10-15 shots would be the optimal amount. |

I did no that but i did not no that one car can explode with 3 to 4 shots at the end of the level _________________ There totally nothing to read here. |

I'm sort of torn between both...
While I love seeing things get blown up in the game, it's also nice to use objects for cover. I can see vehicles being used more for strategic purposes in a multiplayer setting, especially when considering how open the roads are in the Streets. I'm sort of leaning more towards them only being destroyed by explosive weapons, if I had to choose. _________________

Thats another good point. You can use the cars for cover untill someone pulls out a rocket launcher, then you'd better run
It would be pretty cool if buildings did that to a certian extent (Im sure I mentioned this in fact a long, long time ago on RWP) like corners being blown off etc.

Why not just make them explodable only from Rocket Launcher. That way when enemies fire bullets at you, the car doesn't blow up, and nor will you  _________________

I like the gas tank idea, therefore I have added a gas tank to each vehicle. When you shoot the tank, it blows up the car.
The trick: Hanging wall monitor set as a standard object and rotated towards the vehicle, sized to a rectangle the size of the tank. Because wall monitors are only visible on one side and are only 2-dimensional, they're otherwise invisible in the level. I set the vehicle immune to gunfire, set the health to just 1, and made the wall monitor explosive. Now the vehicle will explode either from a rocket launcher, a grenade, or from shooting the gas tank 3 or 4 times. |

That's a really clever concept, BMW.
I can see it working brilliantly in a mission, but could see potential issues in multiplayer. You'd need to set the monitor and vehicle both to be "Immobile", otherwise they could move away from each other once destroyed. The "Immobile" flag is also a bit bothersome. The object keeps collisions forced, even after blowing up. It needs to be broken down the full three times before collisions go, which can be weird when it looks half invisible but blocks you from going through it. _________________
