Well after a ton of conversions, I was able to convert a quake bsp.

My order was something like:
Convert .bsp to .map (I forget tool), I may have even had to convert to Q2 map.
Convert .map to .vrml using bsp2wrl, and export .ppm (-d option)
Convert .ppm to .gifs using Paint Shop Pro v4 (not sure why but vrml referring to .gifs)
Use blender to convert vrml to obj, possibly need to rescale too, seemed small
Rename all .bmps to .gifs (using Paint Shop Pro batch), and also edit mtl/obj to match
Make all bmps 32x32, 64x32, 32x64 and in 8-bit bmp

Anyways, when it's done in obj, a lot of tris are the wrong direction, are there any tools to fix this? Also need to group in modeller.

Hmm, not actually sure the direction is issue, somehow lots of tris just are not appearing.

Sounds pretty cool. I'm looking forward to seeing how these maps turn out. I've never really played Quake much, so it'll be a nice introduction to the series.

I think Crafty may be able to open Quake bsp's, but I'm not sure. I know the format is similar to Half-Life, since HL1 runs on a modified Quake engine. If it can, it would certainly speed up getting them into .obj format at least.

Crafty said invalid bsp type 29. And opening .map didn't show textures.

Can someone spend a couple minutes and group this so the rooms are decent sizes? This is Andy Willies superb NCC1701D for Quake.

And make tris right direction, if quick.

If no one else volunteers, I'll take a look at it sometime after Wednesday.

DeleD chokes on this obj file for some reason. I don't think I'll be able to help with this one. It keeps loading over and over again, like it's stuck in some sort of loop.
