Looking good. If you want to go all-out, you could also change the "euro chopper" to read "eurocopter". I don't know how much of a pain that might be to make, though.
"Arkangelsk" was "Arkangel" in the film. Not sure if you want to change too much stuff, but if you're trying to follow the movie more closely, that's an option.
Of course, we could also say to use the real-world names of the weapons featured in the game. But with all of these new titles, it takes away from the originals style. I just couldn't call it a Walther PPK, even if it is. To me, it'll always be the PP7. _________________

BTW thats also a mis-translation, Arkangelsk means Archangel in English. _________________ Also known as Spyster or Nyxem

Hmm good point. (just google'd it )
It would be good, or does one in fact exist, to have an English mod that replaces fake/altered text to real/unaltered text. I.E. Real gun names and unaltered translations like "Arkhangelsk" (the russian is too unrecognisable)
I like the TIGER (Oh, here's another Mis-Translation, this time on the films part. Its in France so its actualy the TIGRE)
By the way, the TIGER in Goldeneye, isnt this just an Apache?
Hmm, no. It is different. Also the top part of wikipedia just confused the name issue, it is TIGER...

I made one a while back, based on the names we had in screenshots (which, like a few of the locations, are a bit odd compared to the common ways of writing their names) and educated guesses for the rest, but I don't think I ever bothered releasing it. |

@ SubDrag
I don't know how the 'Unknow' feature works, but it was a happy coincidence that somehow fixed that little problem. I tried more values, but here is what happened more or less:
I notice that I needed a "ü" character for the same word in three different texts. I could have use a synonym but I feel that it would be more professional adding that special character (it's hardly used in Spanish, only in some exceptions). To inject de "ü" character, I changed it with the "%" as I have already used 8 other characters for the other special characters. Problem is that "%" is 12x12 and I only needed 8-9x12. The result is a blank space defore and after the letter that ruins the text:

Then I thought that if "vertical offset" affect the vertical position of the character, the Unknow should do something with the horizontal. So I tried different minus and plus values.
Until I hit 50:
(here is with 40):
Because the feature didn't seem to follow any logic, I returned to the 50 value and edit the image of the "ü" to fill the gaps:
.
And that is how it happened. I don't see the images of my reply so I'll post the links in order:

http://i1185.photobucket.com/albums/z345/Sogunesp/50b.jpg?t=1292946243
@ others
I think I'll change the "euro chopper" to "eurocopter", but only if it looks great (I'm not good with textures, Tiger may be the exception XD).
About the Arkangelsk vs Arkangel... I will leave the original russian, which seems to be Arkhangelsk (found it in Google Earth).
Putting real names to the weapons... I'll need to be sure of all the real names if I take that step. Making some real and others not would be cheap. Also, most of the players are already familiar with Rare's names and the PP7 and others now belong to gaming History.
I'm open to more suggestions. |

Hello.
I'm glad to announce that the translation is finished. You can download it here.
There're some dialogs that I don't know how to trigger or maybe aren't used in the game, so I don't know if there are issues with them.
Everything else looks fantastic.
I've attached a readme file with the ips file. It's in spanish. If it's necessary an english .txt, or some other files let me know.
Here's a pic of the new Tiger eurocopter:

I would like to have this uploaded to the GoldenEye Vault. You guys manage that site, right?
Here is a fitting pic for the preview, but you can use whatever you like from the previously posted.

I like this one because it has a little of everything: special characters such as the unique "ñ", translation for different parts of the game, and texture editing.
Thank you guys! You all made it possible. |

Great to hear that you got everything worked out and got this translation patch released! Even though I won't understand anything, I'll have to try it out one of these days. Excellent work, and congrats on getting it all done! _________________

Hi.
After more than seven months I'm ready to announce a new release of my Spanish Translation for GoldenEye.
This was needed because I found some mistakes in the previous version (more that I ever suspected) as missing accents, some dialog lines that went off the screen and misspelled words.
I have read EVERY text ingame so I don't miss anything, so this must be the ultimate translation.
Now I need to know if I release the patch as a *.ips or a *.xdelta file. Which is better?
Also I was making another (poorer) translation to be played on Wii64, as this emulator can't handle 21990 modifications. Can this translation be uploaded in the vault?
Wow! My translation is over 800 downloads! Never expected that much.
Thank you guys. |

Sure, just put them in the zip file both versions. Why can't it play 21990 mods? |

Hi SubDrag
I don't know the reason why Wii64 can't play 21990 modifications but that's the way it is. It's a mupen based emulator and I never used one of those on PC.
I have created the files for the patches. There are four files:
GoldenEye_(S).ips -> 2.99 MB
GoldenEye_(S).xdelta -> 119 KB
GoldenEye_(Wii).ips -> 30 KB
GoldenEye_(Wii).xdelta -> 49 KB
I have uploaded all the files and rewriten the readme.txt (léeme.txt actually) to explain how to apply every file. Download it here
Notice that I have changed my email adress. Now it's sogunstudio@gmail.com
You can keep the old preview image as it has no mistakes.
I think that's all. Thank You SubDrag |
