Just got a new computer recently after a few months without one, and what did I decide to record on my brand new laptop???? that's right, good ol' Nintendo Smile

Double Dragon II - The Revenge : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7LoBppTKkZE

Castlevania II - Simon's Quest : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l6bY15ehoPA&list=PLA8FEB53491A08FF2&feature=plcp

Thinking of doing Zelda II - Link's Adventure next.

I find the NES to be one of the best systems ever made, I know there were systems and games before it, but it paved the way for so many great games we have today. So many classic titles as well, feels very nostalgic popping some of those bad boys in.

I truly believe Segaga Dreamcast paved the way, at least for that up-n-coming generation of consolitis.

And then xbox occurred. And only family-friendly-gaming and COD-followers.

I'm retro/classic until the end of time.. amen Cool Stoner Cool

Dreamcast is such a sick system, it's sad that it was Sega's last console. Amazing graphics, smooth system and really good selection of games too. I think it was relatively easy to burn games and even remember a friend had emulators and roms on his.

It also is a nightmare for collectors, concidering how many special edition consoles they made.

Great games though, especially right near the end. Chu Chu Rocket forever!

I should knoW...I've got one! One of the things I enjoy most about it is that it's easy to get around the region protection so you can play foregn games with minimal difficulty. Although I'd like it a lot more if it didn't keep telling me that my original disks aren't original disks...I use the crack disk before I put ANY disk in now lol.

My fav. Would have to be Jet Grind Radio! Although Jet Set Radio (english version) is exactly the same.

Yeah, it was definately unique. It was cool that when they were on the ropes they basically said 'make the weirdest, most awesome games you can'. Everything that came out in the faltering era was either brilliant or horrible ;*)

Oh, and NES games rock! I still have mine.
HCS made an excellent NES emu for N64 as well, in case you've never tried it. Can run off a GS too. Unlike the 'official' NES emu in Animal Forest can run more than mapper 0 games without dying. (although it probably can't handle FDS.)

Amen amen. I only had mine for a great month now. So far the only native Dreamcast games that are grasping my mind are Metropolis Street Racer, Vanishing Point, Tokyo Xtreme Racer 1/2, Resident Evil Code Veronica (Biohazard Complete J version), 18 Wheeler, Carrier, the Legacy Of Kain Soul Reaver and Shadowman (N64) remasters, they're such sickness for the time being.

bleem!cast is a work of art for PS1 fans.. commercial emulator on store shelves !! Despite only three releases.. supporting Gran Turismo 2, Tekken 3, and Metal Gear Solid 1

You know that dummy Chumlee from the Pawn Stars sitcom on the History Channel ? This guy reminds me EXACTLY of Chumlee with a brain (three part series covering the three bleem!cast releases) :

Good luck with code name Veronica! It's not hard...it just wouldn't accept the second disk for me - I gave up on it out of frustration. GUN on the PS2 is another example...play it on hard and it crashes constantly in the end levels.

Ahh.. I beat out GUN on PC thanks to a trainer. The finale is a real pita, and sadly the game is very short, definitely a good one though

How did I forget.. Test Drive Le Mans on Dreamcast.. breathtaking. It's so odd that it would get a "downport" to PS1

Ah yes the classics. I love a lot of old NES games to the SNES and N64 games.

If it was not for the good old NES I don't know where this world be right now...

Anyway my main favorite game on the NES is Super Mario bros 1 2 (Japan release) and 3. The Super Mario Brothers 2 (American release) Was not the real Super Mario Brothers 2. Its Doki Doki Panic recolor into the so called Super Mario Brothers 2. And that why I don't really like that one.

Anyway I made 2 videos of me beating each game as fast as I can on Super Mario Bros 1 and 3. Here the link if anyone here wants to watch it.

Super Mario Brothers - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F2-3TfTW4Fc&feature=player_detailpage

Super Mario Brothers 3 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZLHs7kqkmQ4&feature=player_detailpage

I hope you all like it. Enjoy. Smile

There are times when I really wonder how they managed to cram so much gameplay onto such a tiny medium (and how so many modern games can't get any onto a blu ray). Although now that I work in the industry the gleam wears off it a bit. Still they've got that strange undefinable mix that's known simply as "fun".

The NES was the first console I ever played and owned, and my very first game was the sidescroller TMNT. I haven't beaten that game yet (it's been more that 20 years!), but I play it from time to time on the Wii in order to do it, hehe.

My favourite NEs games are Super Mario BROS 3, Kirby's Adventure, Ufouria (a Metroid alike game, not released in the U.S.), Megaman series, Ninja Gaiden, the TMNT games... lots of memories until my parents bought me a N64.

As for Dreamcast, some of my friends had it and we played Virtua Tennis 1&2 and Quake III a lot. I miss those days when my friends and I spent a couple of hours with N64 and Dreamcast multis, or playing soccer, or going to the movies or bowling... Sad

Games are different now. I got the feeling that something changed around 2002/2003. It's not only that they focused on story instead of gameplay; games were getting easier and more guided so the player could see all the story without having to repeat any section of the game.
And it's even worst now when they launch games planned as trilogies. If you buy the first game you get an unfinished ending, so they expect you to buy the other two to have a "complete experience". I'm sure they even save some gameplay mechanics to use them in the late titles. Or they do some drastic changes for comercial matters, making games from different franchises more and more alike. I know it's because games are getting more and more expensive to do, and companies need to sell lots of units to have some benefits to make more games; so they aim for big audiences.
Of course it's not always like this. I was playing Left 4 Dead with a friend the other day and even if there were things I didn't like about the game, the main idea is quite good and I enjoyed it.

Speaking of games focused on the story I remember Super Mario BROS had a crazy and dark story written in the instructions manual. Even as a child I thought the story was stupid and dispensable. I'm sure it was something that Nintendo America/Europe put there to make the game more appealing. It goes like this:
"One day, the peaceful Mushroom Kingdom was invaded by the Koopa, a turtle tribe that used black magic. The towns were reduced to dust, and the kingdom fell under the spell of the Koopas. The only person that can undo the spell is Princess Toadstool, daugther of the King of the mushrooms, but unfortunately she was trapped by the Koopa King. Mario, the hero of this story, heard the distress call from the mushroom people and decided to free them.
You'll be Mario! In your hands is to save the Mushroom Kingdom from the black magic of the Koopa."
Laughing Laughing Laughing

As for the game industry, man, ever since 2005 I just cannot tell games apart. They're all influenced by each other

From 2005 and all older, every game stood out/apart from another

I hope retail never retires. I hope offline splitscreen never retires
