I had problems-I mean too much school work -so The video will come delayed, okay? Maybe for the end of this month. Can't tell exactly.

There are many exes for the Editor, but for patching purposes you can use any with the Bond logo. If you doubleclick on "BetaGrabberTool.exe" and wait until a message pops up, "runwaysetupeditor.exe" will be updated with latest Editor beta.
For the patches to work you need the right GoldenEye rom (an unflipped 12MB one). If your rom isn't the right one the Editor can apply some changes to convert it (in the 'Tools' tab go to 'Trip/Flip ROM Tools', then do 'Byteflip ROM' and 'Trip GE ROM to 12 Meg').
The Editor will create a new ROM with the changes unless you renamed it as the original and overwrite it. Keep that in mind when you apply any changes to a rom with the Editor.
My base rom is "GoldenEye 007 (U) [!].z64" so if yours is named like that it should work without doing the previous steps.
Once you have the right rom, applying IPS or xdelta patches is really easy. Open the Editor and do 'Tools' -> 'Apply IPS patch'. Then you select the base rom (the unflipped 12 MB one), select the ips file, and finally name the new rom (keep the .rom extension or it won't work).
If you want to use an xdelta patch then do 'Tools' -> 'Xdelta patching' -> 'Apply GE xdelta patch' -> select base rom, select xdelta file and name new rom.
Patched roms need a few tweaks to work on Project 64 perfectly. The emulator won't recognize the rom and it will suffer slowdowns and even crashes if you don't configure it. In Project 64 load the rom, then go to 'Options' -> 'Settings' -> 'ROM Settings' and leave them like this:
CPU Core Style: Recompiler
Self Modifying-Core Type: Change Memory and Cache
Counter Factor: 2
Check marks by: Large Compile Buffer, Register Caching, SP Hack, Use TLB.
For Perfect Dark you want:
CPU Core Style: Recompiler
Self Modifying-Core Type: Protect Memory
Default Save type: 16Kbit EEPROM
Counter Factor: 2
Check marks by: Large Compile Buffer, Register Caching, Use TLB.
Then you will be able to play the patched rom perfectly. Some multiplayer patches don't have menus edited, so check the description to know what level you need to choose in order to play the custom map.

GoldenEye: X 5a was released some days ago and there are other projects on the go.
EDIT: For Perfect Dark patched roms the settings in Project64 are:
CPU Core Style: Recompiler
Self Modifying-Core Type: Protect Memory and Cache
Memory Size: 8 MB
Advanced Block Linking: Off
Default Save type: 16kbit Eeprom
Counter Factor: 2
Check marks by: Large Compile Buffer, Register Caching, Use TLB.
Make sure Audio Plugin is in sync with game.

once i apply the ips patch it lowers the rom back to 9.mb and will not load
can someone teamview me to get me started please..

What patch are you trying to use? Is it stored in Goldeneyevault?
It's really weird that the rom shrinks down to 9 MB after applying it. That shouldn't happen. |
