I've always wondered if overclocking your N64 was possible. Apparently it is. If there were ever a practical application for this, Goldeneye hacking would certainly be it. This should, in theory, improve framrates on levels which suffer from it in multiplayer.

If anybody out there is brave enough to try this, post your results.

That sort of method will cause sync problems because you're overclocking the CPU seperately from the RCP.

To get a speed boost without problems, you need to find a way to adjust the main bus clock.

There's got to be some way to do it.

Don't they have seperate speeds already?

Lol, I'd love to overclock one of my N64s to 400Mhz... ;p

They do run independantly, but there would be clock timing errors. Outside of that, you wouldn't necessarily get a speed boost. Although it increases processing speed, data access is still hardware-based. Besides, GE actually limits its in-game framerate. (the framerate shown on most emulators is the rate of its own screen processing) You probably can't get over 30fps on the outside no matter what you do. (can't remember the kill value offhand) Heck, even if you did get that sort of speed, the blackouts have to do with cart access, interrupts, and decompression rate so you'd likely still have them.
