I think PD offers some of most plentiful amount of carts on eBay I've ever seen, so not necessarily rare.
Unaware if I can say the same for the expansion pack, though.

They're pretty common in NZ. I've got backups for most of my N64 gear - about four consoles, heaps of controllers, two expansion packs. I think the main thing is keeping an eye on garage sales, second hand shops, all the usual places and sometimes, just sometimes, you get a fantastic dea.

The Expansion Pak certainly makes PD look nicer, but the framerate holds better without Hi-Res Mode toggled on. Guess the other benefit is how much more of the game you can actually access. Heck, you can't even choose your own character in Combat Simulator without the pak. Their way of saving every bit of memory possible.

Well, you cant even play the solo campaign or with 3 or 4 players without the pak, so who would even play the game without it? |

It's a matter of opinion. Some people love it, others hate it. The general consensus from what I gather that it's good enough for what it is.
Some of us now writing our own stories, programs, campaigns. There is a limited amount of content available for any fiction. I wouldn't want to be in the same story for too long.
