Decided to post something outside of the lab temporarily to get everyone's attention. After working on this for a week I finally have a working beta of this thing. It uses some unused clipping platforms outside in 3D space far away from the normal rooms. Fascinating you can actually make this work. It wasn't easy considering I had to create a pad in the regular rooms then flag it in air and float it into 3D space. Air Force One is cloned from a pad as a collisionless object and positioned offset after HOURS of moving and testing. Getting the top of the plane to match the surface of the clipping was quite a challenge. I'll release it AS IS in the next few days if I can't figure out how to get the clipping to stop sticking. Players can get anywhere but you have to keep pressing forward to keep moving. Still really nice level for some multi matches. Click the pic below to catch the video

Now that is unusual! I HATE having to work away from home, as I so frequently don't have my N64 here (I've six different consoles, so I usually bring two plus my laptop, currently I have my PS3 and PS2) and I can't try that, but I will when I get the chance (N64 emulators are too finnicky and imperfect for me). I don't know if it would make a good level, but it would be fun to try!
BTW, thanks very much for the multiplayer maps with weather in them, the last time I was home I tried them and they are GREAT!
I only got to play a few (didn't have much time ), and only against sims, but they played great and the rain and snow really brings them to life.
But I might have found a couple of bugs;
1) There is no rain or snow in the Warehouse level. I think the patching went OK, as there were no error messages, and the other levels I tried on the patched roms had weather, but no rain or snow appears in the Warehouse using either patch.
2) Why when you use the rain patch is there no rain in the big room of Skedar (which I've marked by a red cross in the picture below), but when using the snow patch you have snow in that room?

It's where the game writes it from. Snow draws a sideways angle I believe where rain is more from above. Hmmmmm I'll have to check into warehouse. I know some levels like SEWERS suffered from clipping blocking much getting in. I kind of had plans to improve it with a more effiient action block. Just discovered Chicago's full block will actually work so it may have some pretty heavy downpours next time around.
Sorry about the bugs! Guess I'll have to mention them in the next release. Didn't release it was bugging. Thanks for the heads up!

Sounds fantastic! I wasn't going to go home this weekend, but I'll nip home tomorrow to pick up my N64, so I can give this a try. It will be extra amazing when all levels have the weather effects, and as you say, changing amounts of rainfall will be fantastic! I'm really looking forward to seeing the finished version of this mod. |

Np bro. . It is nice to have some excitement every once and a while. Wait until you see air force ones full plane as a multi. It was a slew of work adjusting tri coordinates to match length and width. With a LOT of hard work the floor clipping on this is officially complete. Still a ways to go. RAIN wasn't writing in the wing area. Found the issue and changed the room number. Having some issues with weapon placements since technically the area is IN AIR so probably have to manually drag each set across space ALL DAY to get them in there. Click the pic for the latest video. I'll post a playable patch shortly.

ha haaaa! Man wish I had thought of that name! cool one! Yea I'm contemplating importing clipping from a whole other level to see if I can fix the top of the plane. SOMETHING is making the players stick to the clipping. I don't think it's a portal issue because the bottom piece works great and it's nifty running around on the wingspan. I do know they are somehow connected by something in 3D space that I think cancels out the top piece when you shrink it, etc. Oh! Just got an idea. Maybe if I don't triangulate that piece and just copy the coordinates it only works as a quad. _________________ http://codelegends.proboards.com/ |

MultiplayerX, can you check the above download, please? Rain and snow seem to be in different levels, in the same patch file, even though one patch file should produce only snow and the other should produce only rain.
Also, it's still not raining in that main room in Skedar.
I do like the changing rain amounts, though, please keep that in the fixed version of the files.
Please have a look when you get the chance, as I really do like having rain and snow in the multiplayer levels. |

Sorry Kerr . I honestly have no more time to work on it at the moment. I have much BIGGER project to attend to. You can actually change the room numbers around a little bit in the editor yourself. Just load the ROM, select the 21990/39850. Go to SKEDAR CS. Hit the little box beside mp setup and save file to your desktop etc. Hit the box beside pads and save to desktop. Load up the level and switch to ROOM POSITIONS. Fly to room that has no RAIN. Write it down. Close window then in 21990/39850 look at DRAW ON TOP ROOMS section and select your room numbers and save new rom
Please reply WHAT level has the wrong weather so i can fix that too. I thought I tested it unless the editor didn't save the action block when I changed it. Let me know. MultiX

Nasty tris WIP fix
Well I'd like to release Attack Ship X and AF1X together Having a time fixing a few areas in attack ship where players can't get across the top of the ship floor I think it's a texture misalignment issue and the tri clipper not lining them up so I'm seeing if stretching working ones will compensate for a decent fix aaaahhhhhh maybe I'll learn a modeller one day and be more accurate _________________ http://codelegends.proboards.com/ |
