Yep, for a while at least. I dunno why exactly, other than I did watch a number of videos on G4 site, and honestly, the footage from the Wii titles wasn't exactly stellar. I mean, the expectation is for amazing graphics right. I know Nintendo was focusing more on gameplay with this system, but specs wise I don't get it. Call of Duty 3, the video explained the controls with the new stick and honestly, wow. A tad labour intensive. I know, I haven't played or seen the system yet, but it hasn't made me want to buy it. I know it's not the end of the world. It's just that I'd rather buy a 360 (which is damn cheap now) and play PD over any of the Wii titles that I've seen. Watch some Wii games footage and see what you think. It isn't that different from the GC stuff in my opinion. I could be wrong once I see it in person, but I think I'm right on this one. |

It's another one of those "don't knock it until you try it" scenarios.
I absolutely agree with you about the labour intensive comment. Even the guy in the Red Steel commercial looks as though he's been using a tredmill for about five minutes on high at the end. This, I believe, is a good thing. Kids have been able to plop down on their butts and play a game for hours without moving anything but their fingers and their mouths. Avoiding physical exercise in order to clear just one more stage. Which, of course, ends up being six more stages. It's about time that us gamers started working with the game. We've had it too easy with these past consoles, dating back to the beginning of gaming. Why should your character have to move if you don't? That doesn't seem fair. I mean, if there are two people renovating a house, why should one get to sit on their ass, while the other puts up the wallpaper? Teamwork is required for Wii games. You and the character have to rely on eachother to achieve an objective. I find that refreshing.
Besides, the console is brand new. Most of these people haven't had enough time to familiarize themselves with the controls and the sensor. Once you'd had it for a few weeks, I'm sure you'd feel much more comfortable. _________________

ya im also passing on buying it.....for now. my sister's boyfriend brought it over and it was quite fun (even the wii sports that came for free was a lot of fun). but im deciding to wait it out and see if any really good games come out. i do agree on the whole exercise thing wreck (i live in usa, the county i live in is one of the fatest in the country, bleck); im tired of seeing fat chicks....wait they they dont really play any games so why am i ranting about that.
so far im saying its a great system, but im waiting to see if any of the really good games pop out, and plus im waiting for the price to drop (maybe $50 US dollars). _________________ I am the BEAST Of THE EAST (USA) in STACK, ARCHIVES, FACILITY, TEMPLE, COMPLEX, BASEMENT, LIBRARY, EGYPTIAN, BUNKER, CRADLE. Hell, I remember when it used to be that moving the controller was a sighn that you didnt know how to play. (hilarious it was, to watch your sis or mom try to play racing or fighting games) Wreck makes a really good point though. Plus, I've always enjoyed VR type games. So I'm gonna try and buy one. (or perhaps even better, convince my roomate to buy one) _________________ "Inspiration strikes but once.. If you're forgetful, carry a pen." -Me |
