 |
|
Hi guys,
So I've got to the point where I'm comfortable booting all the old GS multi levels, even Citadel with the help of the uploader. However I noticed that in all these levels, I never have background music, even when I'm sure there should definitely be some music. For instabce the case of Facility Backzone old codes, I can see some part of the codes are meant to do just that:
"Music (optional)".off
D0024337 0007
80024337 001F
Same issue with Surface, this line is supposed to trigger music:
8004EB8B 001C
Yet nothing plays in the level.
I checked recently an old YouTube video of a guy booting Citadel with the uploader, and sure enough he has music playing when the level starts. I booted that very level this morning, followed the procedure to the dot, it runs fine but no music at all. So I'm wondering....what am I doing wrong ?
Edit: I retried tonight on Statue, Cradle, Runway, Dam. No background music in any of these, and I double checked there is one line of code that is supposed to apply the music for each level codeset. I must be missing something. I'm sure it's been tested at the time, and what bugs me is that it's not playing for any level, so I'm thinking it's a " chair-screen" issue like we say in France. |

Music should always play in multi. Mission based levels will play their standard theme song, and multiplayer exclusive maps choose a song at random. My Facility Backzone code tests if the Facility song is set to play, to instead play its X track version. You'd probably need a code to either play a silent track, or set the music volume slider in the watch menu to zero, to have no music. Are you sure the music volume is up on your game folder save? |

Isn't well known, but certain settings like audio levels are borrowed from single-player settings. Start a regular solo stage, open the watch menu, and check what the audio output is on there. Set it where you want, but be sure you do something that forces the game to save. Otherwise, you'll be doing that every time you power on.
Certain bugs can corrupt eeprom or wipe out settings, might be how it happened. Can't remember how many other settings work that way, but another that rolls through is video aspect ratio. |

Thank you Wreck and Zoinkity! That was it, my music slider in singleplayer was all the way down to zero! I feel really stupid for not checking that in the first place.
Now I get to enjoy the wonderful music this game offers ! So glad. Thanks again! |
