Tomorrow Never Dies using the PD engine.
Yes, I know there was already a TND game made before, but it was a third-person crap fest, if memory serves me right. I mean an actual first-person follow-up to GoldenEye. I still wonder if Rare kept the Bond license instead of opting out to work on an original concept (which turned out to be Perfect Dark) if it would have been Tomorrow Never Dies 64. And if so, would it have been as impressive and addictive as GE007. Sticking to a more realistic world, without future tech, utilizing various Bond themed gadgets and scenarios. I think it certainly had the potential to be. So that's what I would like to see most. |

agreed
though i really wish they had made Tommorow Never Dies: The Mission Continues i felt that would have been better than the original PS1 game
although reading about TWINE and MGM interfering TND would have probarly suffered from executive meddling
it would be cool if someone would do a fan game of Tommorow Never Dies but ah well.... |

* Goldfinger
* The Spy Who Loved Me
* License to Kill
* Octopussy (in 3rd Person EON/FRWL style)
* Never Say Never Agian
* Tommorow Never Dies in FPS
* Casino Royale |

Don't forget that when Nintendo/Rare negotiated the licence for Goldneye, they apparently got almost the whole of the license with little trouble, but after Goldeneye (the game) became so massively popular, then MGM (who owned the James Bond copyrights) became more demanding, as shown when Eurocom (or whoever it was) negotiated for the The World is not Enough license.
Then (according to someone who worked on the game), MGM said that the game could not include cheats (as they didn't want James Bond associated with cheating), Bond could not be seen to die (as he did in the game Goldeneye when you failed a level), good characters must not be able to kill good characters, and so on. And the resultant game, The World is Not Enough, on the N64, suffered as a result, with no cheats, 'good' characters couldn't be on opposing teams in multiplayer, etc.
And the game also lacked the James Bond theme tune, and the traditional opening Bond-walks-on-and-shoots scene, both of which appeared in the game Goldeneye. This was because MGM now wanted seperate money for each of these, whereas before they'd been include in the Goldeneye deal.
So if Rare had done an official James Bond game instead of Perfect Dark, then it would almost certainly have been subject to these same limitations (no cheats, good could only fight evil in the multiplayer, etc), and maybe they'd only be able to use weapons that were in the specific film too, thereby limiting Rare's own additions to the game's arsenal.
At least with Perfect Dark, Rare had more or less total control over what they wanted to add to the game. |

TheMaskedMutant, you should have a little search on the forums, you may be surprised at your list.
Goldfinger is already in production and Tomorrow Never Dies was at least floated before, though I didnt think I should mention it, however wreck did
Casino Royal would be a tad boaring would it not... it would almost need 3 games in 1.
Free Running Mirrors Edge begining, card game middle and driving end (extended slightly)
I think any bond game would be good, it gets easier with later movies as you can include more gadgets from previous movies.
RE Rare Bond Licence, it may be that they could have kept the licence they had, but I think Kerr is right, I think MGM did ask to re-negotiate the terms and so Rare decided to decline.

That is certainly possible. You would think that, with the massive success Rareware had with GoldenEye, that MGM would allow them more freedom to do what made GE007 garner so much praise from fans and critics alike. But now that a brand new team was dealing with it from scratch, MGM wanted to influence the design from the ground up. It was a blank canvas, after all. It's like if a film director signs back on to make the sequel to their first hit, that the producers will feel pretty comfortable with them at the helm. But if they pass on it, and some other director takes the job, the producers may try to push their own ideas onto them, in an effort to make it the way they see fit.
From what I've read, MGM didn't do much good for the TWINE game, at all. |

It would almost certainly have included cheats, and I wish it had, it has some great weapons and I'd love to play through the game using just my favourite weapons, such as the shotgun, or Magnum. Or the guided missile! |

The Spy Who Loved Me would make a great game using the GE Engine (with Zoinkitty's 7meg expansion tweak. Also, Jaws is already within the original game too. |

ah ... one thing, I think for the reason that the movie The Living Daylights was not mentioned is that SilverEye is doing a mod (Neo Genesis) that specifically deals with that movie ... am I right or am I wrong? _________________ Johnny Thunder masterpiece:

I would love to see TWINE remade - would be interesting to use Eurocom's levels, and buid around it with the PD engine.
If I had to choose an older Bond film, I think that The Living Daylights would be an interesting choice! |
