The reason Wii would get emulated version instead of a remake wasn't because of the Wii's power, but the fact that rareware, being owned by microsoft, neither has Wii devkits NOR the intention to develop for Wii, as MS wouldn't allow it.

In that deal you mention (assuming it was true that it was on the negotiation table at some point), nintendo would get a emulated version because Nintendo can have it. Nintendo would never allow a nintendo console emu on a competing platform, if only on the grounds that commercial N64 game roms contain Nintendo owned code (The N64 OS) and even if MS made an N64 emu (which would in instelf probably go to court), they would have no means to release ROMs for it anyway.

Resuming, MS doesn't want to spend money, or time of their second parties, in programming for Wii, nor will Nintendo licence them for it, and Nintendo is the only one that can authorize the commercial release of an N64 emu or ROMs (since they contain their code).

WiiU being more powerful doesn't change any of this.

olllo:

Well yes, at the end of the day console power has not much to do with it.
the wii has enough POW to pull it off.

4J would have been in charge of doing ports for both systems if they wanted to.....

Even better for the nintendo side, they could have sold both the virtual console version and the port.

I wonder if the game has enough appeal for the young folks these days...
I still see 6 year-olds play it at the bootleg arcades, over at Ñ's youtube a couple of kids asked for help beating the levels.
but is it enough to justify an investment?

If it's the whims of some douchey executives, or a licensing & paper-work labyrinth
(metinks combination of both)
then it is a circus of sadness with sad clowns , sad trapeze artists, sad elephants ,sad horses, sad Knife twins, sad lions, sad monkeys, sad zebras, sad bearded ladies, & an even sadder Audience (with sad cotton candies ,made with the tears of little people.)

Living in corrupto-land with tānzāng wŭbì products, really tells me that licensing labyrinths are truly no barrier to making consumers happy & rake in the dough

I mean really- who the hell sits at those negotiating tables?
Nintendo's Hezbollah branch opposite of Microsoft's Likud Party?

Having this specific game as a "bridge" of sorts for 3 different platforms by making a kick-ass multiplatform online experience is a fantastic thing to do.

a healthy combination of nostalgia, good game-play & solid multiplayer in my head is a sure win.....

too much of a good thing?
