Facility VR Setup: Sounds fantastic, 00action. I wish I'd had more time at home to get some stuff accomplished, but I didn't. I'm hoping that I'll be home again in just over a week, which will then give me an opportunity to get back to this. I have a list of what is most important, and I'll be checking each thing off shortly. The textures and updated BG for this map is priority number one.

Lighting: I've documented a fair amount of data regarding the interactive lighting, but don't know everything about it. I'm not sure if I'd even be able to properly setup a light source at this time. Perhaps I can give it a good testing with a single room when I have some free time.

Monitor: Yeah, I didn't think about that until just recently. There weren't any laptop type computers in GoldenEye, and only the one television monitor. I wouldn't be opposed to using one of the actual computer terminals instead. It'd be quite a bit larger than PD's terminal, but it fits into GE better. Could be interesting being bigger, since gives you some cover as you hack into it. Might need testing. I'm open to other suggestions.

Im looking forward to seeing Facility VR when the new background is in and all textures look rite, its so close to being fully completed Very Happy

Hacker Central suggestions:
1. Normal goldeneye monitor.
2. Goldeneye console from bunker.
3. Mainframe from bunker.
4. Goldeneye monitor and keyboard combined to 1 object.

Since I'm currently unable to check this stuff out, is the laptop used in PD for the Hacker Central scenario animated? I had thought that the scrolling green text was displayed, but I could be wrong. If so, it'd probably be wise to stick with something that utilizes it. There should be a computer terminal that was ported for the Facility that has both a screen and keyboard. That one might not be a bad model to use. It could be a little large, but that's what testing is for. Razz

Combining the keyboard and monitor models into one object is another good option. I still don't really care for (even in PD) needing to kneel down to a small prop, leaving you completely open to an assault. The larger computer terminal gives you a little more cover, but not enough to make you feel too safe. Odds are, if you've still got a ways to go on your download when an enemy is nearing, you're going to get killed anyway.

Really? That's pretty disappointing. Is it the same way on console? Well, if that is the case, it doesn't necessarily mean we should just use another animated screen object from GoldenEye. If the monitor isn't displaying anything, than what's the point? It's as though the computer isn't even turned on.

Hacker Terminal: Is that video of a match being played via emulation? The transparent circle that surrounds the radar appears to be missing, which is common in emulation. Has anyone, for sure, confirmed this on the N64?

Breakable Glass: Are the sims capable of firing through the glass while it is still intact, or does it need to be shot out in order for them to react to another opponent? I really enjoyed having the glass shatter in multi with codes / modded setups, and so long as the sims are cooperative, it'd be a great new feature.

VR: Yes, one of the changes made for GoldenEye: X is a renaming of the Combat Simulator. In the film "Die Another Day", Bond actually uses a holographic training device as a way to brush up on his skills. I tried to hear what R (Q's replacement) referred to it as, but it basically comes down to "Virtual Reality". Which is exactly what it is. So, it seemed better fitting in the Bond universe to go with VR. I still haven't decided if another term should be used for the Simulants (or Sims, for short). Some other games, and even The World Is Not Enough, label the computer controlled characters in multiplayer as Bots. I don't know if I like that enough to use it, though. If we can come up with something good, it might be the new title.

Hacker Central: just loaded up perfect dark on my N64 console and the hacker central monitor looks exaclty the same as the one in the movie link i posted.

Breakable Glass: just played a 10min combat match with 8 sims and they were deffinatly shooting the glass out when they saw me on the other side and then continued to destroy me with bullets plus i have done some testing of bullet and projectile travel through the window frames and everything seemed to be fine so it looks like the breakable glass is staying in Very Happy

I have doubts about this level: it is a mission map, is only for multiplayer, or are the two things?
if you're making a map of mission, I wonder how artificial intelligence will influence, in this map goldeneye, unlike the original goldeneye? me more like goldeneye artificial intelligence, I see that will influence the gameplay. it is true that perfect dark has better enemy AI, but also for me this is more linear with respect to goldeneye.
I like everything I'm seeing on this level is fantastic, I'm looking forward to the arrival of the patch.
anyway the perfect dark rom hack I see that you have several questions in mind, too complex for some way I see it. I just think you are thinking of putting a lot of things when the editing of this game is experimental.

At this time, we are focusing on the Combat Simulator (Virtual Reality) multiplayer aspect of the game. We have a strong grasp of how everything is done in multi, so that isn't hard to do. Missions will be more difficult, as there is so much we don't quite understand. The Action Blocks are very unknown, leaving us with little we can do right now. Simplified versions of the missions are possible, however. I'm sure, as we continue working on the project, we'll learn more and keep updating things as they are needed.

We'll still want to keep this feeling as much like GoldenEye as possible, but certain things will automatically be different just because of it running on a different engine. Hopefully, most of those things will be better. Other changes will be discussed, tested, and decided upon before finalizing.

Forgot to post this earlier today...

Hacker Terminal: I'm guessing that the computer is loaded in as a standard object, just like the briefcase (or flag token), which would explain why it isn't animate. It seems like a wasted opportunity to me. But anyway, if the terminal object doesn't display a screen image, than we can use whatever we want to. Well, so long as it's fitting.
