I'm not positive this goes here, but it does pertain to Goldeneye so I figured I'd post it here.

This topic is just kinda a discussion topic for differences between the movie and the game, as well as links between movies.

One thing I think would have been good would have been more dialog from the movie, like when Bond meets Janus and in the facility and stuff. Plus, it could have obviously followed that better, having you sneak through with Alec instead of meeting him at the end. I understand thay had to add some things because there wasn't enough action in the movie, but some things were just pointless, like the silo mission (though I may just feel that way because I can't seem to beat it on 00A).

I don't know if anyone here really watches all the bond movies but they had a marathon on AMC last weekend and I saw Man with the Golden Gun and Live and let Die. I noticed that the sheriff J. W. Peppers was in both and then it struck me that he was like Jack Wade in Goldeneye. They both have the same sense of humor and their initials are the same. Was Jack Wade made as a tribute to J. W. or are they the same person, just played by different actors? Or am I looking too far into this, or am I just retarded and this is obvious to everyone else?

At least I have an excuse to this, I'm sick for the past week and I'm going to have a crap of makeup work to do, plus my girlfriend dumped me so I have an excuse for my rant and possibly retarded ideas...

Whoa, I gotta stop these walls of text....

As far as the Bond films go, I am somewhat of an afficienado. GoldenEye is my all time favorite (yes, even over the great Connery films - but just barely). Jack Wade is inspired by JW Pepper, but he is mostly based on Bond's CIA contact Felix Leiter. Felix is in about half of the Bond films and he'll be returning in "Casino Royale" this November!

I too wish that Rare included more from the movie, but I can understand the technical limitations. Frankly, I'm surprised that it's held up for nearly 10 years! But I really like extras like the silo - it just adds more layers to the story. And think about locations like The Control Room, The Train and Statue Park. They'd be pretty boring if they stuck to the film's script! I actually own a copy of the movie GoldenEye's script and I think Rare was working off that (as opposed to the actual movie - which wasn't finished when they started working on the game).

I saw some photos on Rare's website a long time ago that showed detailed drawings of the Bunker and streets along with photos from the set. They had some really interesting stories about adapting the movie!

I recently got a new computer with a DVD burner. I was considering getting Goldeneye off Netflix and burning it to the computer. If I become acquainted with movie editing I might be able to send clips if that helps anyone with Valentin's project. That's not to mention I could watch Goldeneye on the computer Very Happy

When making the Game, Rare had worked with the Goldeneye movie alot. They visited sets, read scripts, all into extreme detail. It is probrobly on of the best follow of a movie ever made. I like the desicions made to make the game more exciting, because look at whats being done now: more cinamatic games that follow movies are not really that fun. That Rare team had to change the setup around in order to make a really good game based on a movie. For example, new cinematic games never have options. Try to kill a friend in an EA game thats cinematic. Cant do it, or the consequences are not realistic. Kill Natalya in Goldeneye and the whole mission falls apart, not becuase there is some Mission Failed across the screen, but simply because you needed Natalya for something. I think Detstar had a section relating to this, on how much the levels are related to thier movie counterparts.

Goldeneye DVD! Yay! Im thinking of doing the smae thing, all I have is Goldeneye on tape, so I havent watched it in a while ...

It might be tough to find the GoldenEye DVD, since Sony is planning on re-releasing all 20 Bond films in September. I'm sure netflix would have it. I already have the DVD and I'm using footage for my project but thanks for the offer- clown!

I bought a copy of the DVD on... let me look at the bill... Laughing
February 14th, 2004 - my grandmother's birthday, two years ago.
It was sitting on the shelf staring at me, so I had to get it.
Yes, I got something for her, too. Sheesh. Razz

I've been using it as a referrence while hacking for Valentin.
It's definitely my favourite Bond film, right up there with A View To A Kill.

Got it in the mail today! I've gotta watch it this weekend. I watched the intro on the computer and burned it to the hard drive. When I watched the intro I became intrigued with the similarities and differences between the movie and the game. I considered making a guide comparing the two with every object in both movie and game by Photoshopping frames. Having images from the movie could be interesting down the road as well with game image mods. That's not to mention I can see more Goldeneye on the computer and burn discs.
