Halo 1 is one of the best games ever made. It has the best AI, graphics, sound, story, and level design.

Although, Perfect Dark beats it in gameplay, replay value, music, multiplayer, and options.

Halo 2 isn't even close to Halo 1 though.

The textures are worse.

The AI is worse.

The multiplayer is worse.

The level design is worse.

The story is worse.

The gameplay is worse.

The weapon balance is worse.

The only good parts are the lighting, music, and hidden skulls.

I wasted $80 on Halo 2. I will definitely rent Halo 3 before buying it.

Hmm, I think most gamers would disagree. Halo 1 vs Halo 2 in a way is like GoldenEye vs PD. Some think PD didn't do justice to GE. The consistent complaint with Halo 2 is the lack of the Halo 1 style pistol. Enjoy Halo 2 like the millions that have.

I tried to enjoy it, but no matter how much I played it, I couldn't get over how inferior it was to Halo 1.

In Halo 1's single player, the enemies got smarter as you went up in difficulty.

In Halo 2, the ememies don't really get smarter. They just deal out more damage and are more accurate.

In Halo 1, most of the textures looked so detailed, you would think they were real surfaces.

In Halo 2, most of the textures are lower resolution, and seem flatter.

In Halo 1, the story was very straight forward.

In Halo 2, the story is a mess, and stops abruptly.

The worst part of Halo 2 is the lack of an online custom game browser. If there's nobody available on your friends list, Bungie forces you to play their setups.

I can somewhat agree that the multiplayer in Halo 1 is better than the one on Halo 2. Download the program called XBConnect and you can play Halo 1 online. You will be hooked on it for months, like I did, and you will truely see how great the multiplayer was in Halo 1. Halo 1's multiplayer has that "Goldeneye ambiance" which is great. I have nothing against Halo 2's multiplayer, it's just I've enjoyed the multiplayer in Halo 1 better. Best map in Halo 1 is Chill Out and Hang Em' High. Hopefully those will come back in Halo 3.

I tried XBC a while ago. The lag was horrible for me.

Just a suggestion with XBC, finding games near where you live will give you the best possible games. Second, perhaps someone was modding or screwing with the game, which causes lag on xbox live. Not sure if that has the same effect on XBC.

True, I really never experienced lag whenever the server was from the northern states or canada. I found there would be lag whenever the ping number of the host is really high. As for modding, I found the lag would increase by a lot, especially in Halo 2.

Overall, from all the Halo 1 games I played so far, it's rare that you find a game where the lag is bad at a point where the game is unplayable. It all depends on other people's connection.

When I tried a few rounds of Halo 1 on XBC, they all ranged from mild lag to extreme lag, which involved a half second delay between pressing a button and an action occuring.

It looks like this may be the 5000th post!

That's weird because that barely happens to me...although I haven't been on XBC for a while, I doubt it's still like that because every time there is an update on XBC, they always add a few bandwidth to decrease the lag and they usually update every month.

I suggest taking a download and upload test on www.testmy.net and post your stats. here or pm them to me. It might be ur connection, do you have high speed? What is the average ping number of the host? Lastly, if you want to play a game without lag, make sure that every person in the lobby has a ping below 150, if not, they do not have a good connection and it will cause lag in the game.

I sold my Xbox recently, and I think the last time I tried XBC was a year ago.

It may have gotten better since then, but I certainly can't try it.

Ok, I finally played Halo 1 today on XBC and I hosted a game, for the other people, they said it lagged a bit. Overall, if your location is far away from the location of the host, the game will lag unless your the host.

I'm curious to know the cheaters out there or how common it is now. I've heard it's bad, but I can't say I believe that. Going back to Halo 1 for a while would make me even crappier at Halo2.

Looks like I'm not missing out on much. But the game sounds playable.
