Did a bit of tweaking and hopefully this does the trick! Sorry about the delays in getting to this. Please PM me if you see bots appearing for some silly reason. Thanks!

Great to hear. I do hope this puts an end to the bots registering and making threads in the General Gaming Discussion forum. I just deleted two when I came online. Let's cross our fingers that they'd signed up prior to making the change.

Hmm, they are posting dammit. I don't understand but it looks like a bot registered even with the visual confimation. Perhaps I'm being paranoid? I'll see. I will have to delete the bots that are posting one by one perhaps.

Update:

Bots are still signing up! I've done some work on this today and will continue to fix this problem. I'll update asap.

There was another thread I took care of when I logged in. I don't know how the heck they're able to sign up. Maybe they've learned how to see, rather than just read in data? Those tricky suckers. It's like the Terminator and Skynet. The machines are taking over. Shocked

Yeah, it's giving me a headache. I've spent a lot of time the past day looking into this. Silly. Anyways, I'll get this dealt with and hopefully the board doesn't crash, but perhaps it will at some point today with my tweaking. Just check back here for updates on this.

Everyone the board is updated successfully, meaning less security threats/bots apparently. I have the tools now to deal with the so called bot invasion. So I guess the headache and effort will be worth it in the end?

I don't think I've ever seen bot spam on these boards. You and Wreck must be doing a pretty good job of moderating.

Got rid of two new spam threads in the General Gaming Talk forum.
I also went ahead and deleted 27 of the newest bot members from the database.

Well everyone I can honestly say that the spam bots is just a pain. It's a real project to learn and work on fixes. Have no fear it's just part of regular forum maintenance at this point. I will delete as they come. Next up is only having the actual activated users show up on our membership list. Most of these geeks aren't activating their account, but are showing up and counted in the membership list. Well, that is about to change.
