its been some time since i was last here but i cannot decide what new console i want to buy-360 or Wii

they both look awesome in their own regards. i played rainbow 6 vegas and other games on my friends 360 as well as tiger woods and other games on my friends wii. currently i have $375 (USD) saved up and i am deciding what console to get. please respond with suggestions (eg: pros cons etc.). and yes ps3 is out of the question (the price and a whole list of reasons). Hopefully you guys can help, of all the people on online message boards i would have to say the folks at GE:Forever are the wisest.

You'd definatley be able to get more games and more accesories with the Wii concidering the ammount of money you have. But if you like gameplay, rpgs, or shooters, I'd suggest X-box 360. Not that the Wii doesn't posess some of those things, but its nowhere in comparison the the 360. Plus: Soon it'll have Fable 2, Halo 3, and most likely another GTA.

I would say get the better machine specs wise. Buying a Wii is like buying a PC from a year or two ago. The power of the machine isn't spectacular and honestly, that is what sells a machine for me. Of course the big selling point is the Wii controller, but for me it's more about the games. You can do a hell of a lot more with the 360 console aside from just gaming. It's an entertainment unit.

360 for sure. who needs a WII when we have Goldeneye and Perfect Dark PLUS a Level Editor that will most likely eventually be able to customize any level into a MULTI for Perfect Dark too? just my opinion, but I don't need another "FPS wannabe" even from 360 if it's not like Goldeneye or Perfect Dark. HALO and Perfect Dark Zero is about the only game I would buy a 360 for and that's not even priority. Wink Very Happy

From experience, having tried both consoles, I can tell you that I had more fun in the hour I played the Wii Sports game, than I have had in the entire time I've owned an Xbox 360. And that's just with the goofy sports mini-games that are basically for demonstration purposes on controller functionality. If those were that much of blast, I can't imagine what a game like The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess or the upcoming Resident Evil title will be like.

Yes, the 360 is more of an "entertainment unit", from all the different things you can do with it. But odds are, most of us already own DVD Players and a PC, so those added extras that the new Xbox offers aren't exactly new concepts. But what the Nintendo Wii offers with their revolutionary take on gaming, blows it away in the "fun" department. Atleast in my opinion, anyway.

I agree with Wreck, Wii's biggest appeal to me is the new gameplay style, there is so much potential in that, I'm really looking forward to playing some shooters on it. I don't own either yet, probably won't for a while, but I'm most definitely going to pick up a Wii first. The Xbox 360 is looking good though, the original Xbox didn't really appeal to me compared to the PS2 but the 360 has some good games now. My biggest complaint with all three consoles is the price, I can't afford a 360 or PS3 right now (Well, I could, if I went without food for the month) and even a Wii is pushing it which is why I'm holding off on that.
