Timothy1979's Complex Mission

This thing is chock full of objects, it's awesome! Try and see who can do it the fastest! It would be a great mission with a strategy guide...especially spotting the cameras.

It's a great mission, and complex has lots of secret passages and rooms. Don't worry, the safe key's there, just keep exploring!

I expected the player finishes the mission, the video is very good because as I can see, hackers can do anything to create levels and I am impressed for their spent time for new missions and I wonder how they make levels?

The large square room with a lot of guards and scientists in it slows the game to a crawl and eventually crashes PJ64 if I stay in it for too long. Next time I play I'm going to make a savestate before I go in there, I was doing pretty good on 00 Agent until it ended up crashing on me.

That'd odd. I apologize about that. On console I had little to minor lag, almost none in a bunch of attempts. That really doesn't make sense. It doesn't do that on console. Maybe you attracted the whole world? It shouldn't have though. Dang. You set your settings right for the ROM, right?

What do you think about the level? Did you beat it on Agent mode yet? Find the elusive safe key? I played it on console like 6 times in a row on agent mode and it was awesome.

Yeah, I have everything set up right, I double checked to make sure. It's probably a combination of emulator problems and my computer, I've got an old video card. The rest of the level is fine, it's just that one room that does it. I'm going to try making a lot of noise and lure the guards out of there before entering next time, see if that helps.

Overall I like the mission, it offers lots of opportunities to sneak up on guards without them seeing you, which has always been my favorite thing in GE even if it is a bit unrealistic. It doesn't seem too hard either, so far all the levels made seem to have hit a happy medium between being too easy and too hard, which I really like. The scientists are kind of annoying because they tend to follow you rather than running away like they do in Rare's levels. I only managed to complete one of the objectives before it crashed on me, finding the briefcase. I did find the camera but I didn't have a key to get into the room with the artifact and I wasn't sure where I was supposed to download the information at. I found the safe key, great hiding spot.

I haven't beat it on Agent yet though, maybe I should, I just jumped in and started playing on 00 Agent.

I actually got the same bug to occur. It's completely stupid, and I don't know why. That big room is the only room in the game that lags to heck. And the only one that crashed. It just sort of dies. I don't think it happens on console, at least it didn't happen on like 6 full plays of the level.

Maybe something to do with scientists. The scientists are rather pesky, aren't they. I tried Rare's scientists, but they just sort of put their hands up and disappear. These guys get in the way all over the place. They're designed as such. In fact they use the same block as guards.

I agree, the level isn't too hard. But it isn't too easy either. In fact, the reason for the stealthiness has little to do with intention. It's mostly to try and get the framerate playable. When the scientists were on block 0002 (wait for detection), the game just ground to a halt. Now they only can attack you with a few detections. However, this offers a lot of great sneaking around action, that really is why GoldenEye was awesome. Try again, and give me and Timothy your feedback! It's a great level on console really fun. I don't think it'll work using the setup uploader because it had to modify allocations.

I hope you get to the end of the level. Some minor surprises. Well, pretty minor. But the end is cool.

The only reason I found the safe key was the hidden guy shooting at me!!! Oh, try opening the safe, maybe where you have to download information will make sense.

I just beat it on Agent, the ending was pretty cool, I just figured the level would end when you talked to Paddington with all the objectives complete. I found the console for the data pretty easy this time, I never went back into the area before so it was one of the first places I checked.

Runs like a dream for me.

I never had any lag in goldeneye on pj64, not even lag that came natural on the console, thats why it is hard for me to test levels.

Have beaten Agent and Secret Agent so far.

Small glitch I found; on SA Objective A is to find the Breifcase, but this objective is actually completed when you kill all the CIA guards. Not sure if this holds true on 00 or not though. Maybe a typo in the briefing on the author's part, or did he intend to have the briefcase as the SA Objective A and not the CIA guys?

Anyway just thought I'd let everyone know, if it hadn't been found already.

Cool level, kind of irritating that Paddington walks to the end so slowly, slowing me down >_<

Gonna try it on 00 now, then see how fast it can be done...

EDIT: The objectives are reversed on 00 Agent as well.

WARNING THIS POST CONTAINS SPOILERS FOR THE LEVEL

For whoever suggested we see who can get the fastest times...

My best so far on Agent is 3:09. I bet a lot lower is possible but it gets really laggy at a few parts where there're lots of guards and things on screen, making it harder to control.

Haven't decided on the best route for SA or 00A yet, so my times there are still kinda crap (6:42 and 10:46 respectively).

EDIT: Best SA time: 4:10

EDIT AGAIN: Agent, 2:59, Secret Agent, 3:53

Here are the best strategies I've found so far (haven't played much 00 yet).

Agent - Requires luck. Head forward, kill the first guard and switch to his Phantom. At the bottom of the ramp, go straight into Paddy's room. Head forward through here, blasting as many guards as possible to reduce lag. Head into the safekey room, and get the key. Back to Paddy's room, as soon as you enter fire your phantom at the file cabinets next to the far right guard in the basement level (locked room where Paddington is). Once you see it explode, head up the ramp, then take a right and go down to where Paddington is. The CIA guard should open the door for you- if not, restart. Begin firing your phantom madly as you open the safe and grab the disks (this is to lure guards down here for later). Once you have the disks, head back up the ramp and keep going straight to enter the room where you would snap the picture on Secret and 00. Enter the vent here (it's faster). Shoot at the box when you get to the vent and run right through the explosion. You'll survive, it's only Agent. Now, head straight across this room and open the door to the computer room. Activate the Obj A computer by pressing "b". Head back to Paddington the way you came to this room; as you get to the top of the camera room, begin firing the phantom wildly again, with luck the guards you lured to Paddingtons room as you got the disks will open that door for you again. If not restart. Now, just stay alive while escorting Paddington to the end. Open doors for him. You can also get away with killing two scientists if they seem to be getting in his way (Best time with this strat; 2:59).

Secret Agent - Be very quick as you move past cameras; if the alarm goes off before you ice the CIA guys they may be in different places and this strategy won't work. Start by going out of the first hallway backwards, into the room with many scientists. Kill the first CIA guy left of the door, and switch to his Dual ZMGs. head through this room, open the door to Obj A room and kill the CIA guy behind the door. Turn around and kill the guy with keycard B- pick it up. Head down the ramp behind him (kill the CIA guy at the top and bottom of this ramp) and head up the opposite ramp. With luck your ZMG madness will have lured keycard C guy somewhat, saving a second and some aggravation. Head back up the opposite ramp (the way you came here). Take a right turn into the picture room. Head down the ramp (blast the CIA guy at the bottom) and take a right into the room where the camera is. Open the door, grab the camera, then head into safekey room from here. Grab the safekey. Go to Paddington's room from here. You have the keycard this time around, so no shooting below required, just get down there and grab the disks. Head to the Computer room the same way as on Agent, but pause and switch to the camera while waiting for the box to explode. Activate the computer (remember not to switch off the camera) and head back through the vent. Go up the ramp leading to Paddington's room in right strafe. Mash on the Z button as you go up the stairs to take a picture of the box (you don't need to be in the room). Get your Dual ZMG's back out, head to Paddington. Protect, End. (best time: 3:53).

EDIT AGAIN: My 00 strategy

00 Agent - Start by going forward, stop at the turn. Lok straight up and shoot the first camera. The first guard will notice you, but shouldn't hit you in the time it takes to kill the first camera. Turn around, and go to the scientist room. Kill the CIA guy and shoot the camera behind him. Reload PP7, immediately turn around and kill the first guard who will have followed you. Switch to the dual ZMG's. Enter the computer room, kill the CIA guard. Shoot at the filing cabinet below the far camera, with luck the explosion will destroy it. While waiting for the explosion to finish, look down and snipe at some of the guards below (this will reduce lag and getting killed-ness later). If the camera didn't explode, shoot it now, then turn around. Kill keycard B guy and open the door towards keycard C guy. Kill the CIA guy at the top of the ramp, and at the bottom of the ramp. First head into the computer room from down here and destroy the camera above the doorway. Ignore any guards who may shoot at you. Turn around, and go up the ramp to keycard C guy. Shoot at the first computer you see, this will destroy the vent system next to it and kill all the guards in the room. Shoot the other vent system in here and grab the keycard. Go back down the ramp, and head out to the "V" room. Go up the back ramp, destroy both the camera and the vent system. turn around and head to the picture room. shoot the first guard through the door, then go around the left side and kill the other two guards, and the CIA guy. head left here, towards the starting room, and shoot at the camera at the opposite side of the hole (in the dead end). Turn around quickly and kill a guard who will have followed you from the previous room. Head into the camera room next and grab the camera. Then the safekey and briefcase (shoot the camera in this room). the next room has hella-lag on 00, so be especially careful killing the first four guards and the camera above your head as you enter. Head up the ramp, round the corner down towards Paddington (ignore the three guards above and the camera for now). Kill the CIA guy and open the safe (CIA objective will complete at this point). Go back up the ramp and kill the 3 guards who will have followed you, and shoot the camera. The alarm may go off, but it hardly matters at this point since you've killed almost every guard in the level by now. Cross into the picture room, and shoot the last camera here. Head out to the V room, pause for the briefcase and throw it on the pipes. Turn around, head through the vent. Pause for the camera while the box explodes. Go through the next room and activate the computer (easier this time around since all the guards in that room will be gone). Go back through the vent and go up the ramp towards Paddy's room, snap the picture on the strafe. Guard Paddy- hope you don't get killed as you're likely almost dead by now (Best time: 5:56)

Cool strategies! I purposefully left the door near Paddington where guards could open it, just in case there were sequence breaker type things as you show. Did you manage to capture video of your versions? That would be awesome to see.

Hmm, shoot, let me fix that objectives thing!

Impressive 00 agent strategy!!! I hope you can capture video of you playing.

I fixed the bug (and hopefully didn't introduce anymore) if you redownload the current version. I am sorry about that. The intention was the briefcase objective in SA so you may need to redo your strategy!

Aww. redo!?!?

Eh, I only videotaped 00 Agent anyway : )

Uploading to youtube right now, actually not a very good run, the far camera in the computer room didn't explode and resulted in a frantic search of the level for it which cost me close to a minute. A few other sloppy moves made the time only 7:07, but it's still easy to see my strategy from watching the vid (just replace the one minute search after snapping the picture to going straight to Paddington and guarding him). I tried recording Agent as well but it's considerably laggier and the movie file desynched every time I tried.

I'm tempted to make a TAS playthrough of 00, to be honest. It's a really well done level, so congrats on making it.

EDIT: Crappy 00 Agent 7:07

Great video! Oh my, you almost lost cause of scientists. Creative way to do the level, and take a picture of the cube. I liked the video a lot!! Sorry about the lag in the beginning, but it goes away soon at least. I'd love to see a TAS!
