What do you think about it. According to me, it's to have more fun while you discover many things like places, secrets from the game, etc. And once you pass a level requiring time to earn a cheat, it's like to get a honor medal because you progressed and you made efforts to earn it.

Goldeneye was the first game I played that rewarded you with cheats when you did good on a mission rather than making you enter a button sequence. Of course, later the button codes did come out but I had everything I wanted by then, I only used them to get line mode without a GS.

Once you know how to get the Facility cheat time it is hard to not play the stage that way. Most are so easy though they sort of throw them at you...

Still, saves lines on a GS. Besides, most are rather neat.

The amount of cheats at the time was pretty good. You could get more and more cheats but by now we have programmers. Invinciblity was all you really needed.

There are a lot of good cheats in GoldenEye, but there's also many that seem totally unneccesary once you've acquired All Guns. I can understand why certain ones, like the individual weapons that are unlocked after completing the three final missions, were awarded, as well as the doubles, but they go unused later on. Basically, only a handful are often activated. Invincible, Bond Invisible, All Guns, Infinite Ammo, Turbo Mode, and No Radar (Multi). Other than that, there's some interesting ones that get old fast, and a bunch more that you just don't need.

I like to put some cheats on just for fun, like DK Mode or Fast/Slow Animation. Invisibility is different; sometimes it takes the fun out of the game, other times it's fun to use.

In response to Wreck's post, which I didn't see until now, I agree. The fun cheats are all good, I wouldn't want to see any of them cut, even if I rarely use them anymore. The individual/double gun cheats are pretty worthless, especially since All Guns is so easy to earn, they should have just given them all in the single Extra Weapons cheat and freed up some slots. The Super Health/Armor cheats should have made it in, Invincible would've rendered them useless but Invincible is hard to unlock, the health cheats could be easier to get, it would give you something to use until you unlocked it. Same thing with Maximum Ammo, Infinite Ammo is better but Maximum would've been nice until you unlocked it.

I always deemed the 2X Gold PP7's as pointless, especially with one-shot kills. Double RCP-90's was a great cheat, and Paintball Mode...
