Before you vote!
Assume you can fire your gun while you have the flag.
Assume game scoring is seperate from game length. This just counts how the game will end. Scoring noted in the poll is just illustrating that the kills don't automatically make that player a winner.

If you have an option not listed up there, note it below.

I'm trying to un-suck-ify flag tag in GE. Firstly, the whole issue of not being able to shoot is solved, if stupidly. I'm looking at changing the way the scenario's game length is calculated, but not certain which to go with. We are limitted on space for code so all the options can't be used (probably), so I'm curious which sounds best.

Here's the most likely setups:
1) the games end as usual. Time-only matches, game runs that length of time.
2) the game ends when over selected time or a single player gets a certain number of kills. This could help out someone who has a high flag time, because they can run around and kill players to end the stage before anyone else can get a greater time.
3) The game ends when a player has held the flag for the time given. Kills don't count into it.
4) Game ends after a player has the flag for the given amount of time or a player gets the given amount of kills.

I'm opting toward either 2-4. That way, you can toggle the kill thingie by using kills.

As for scoring, that's probably going to be flag time alone. I'd hate for the flag to just give you token bonus points...

I had an idea last night, which partly incorporates another thought I had a long time ago...

"From Russia With Love (Case Chase)"

In this mode, each player must scramble to find the Lectre. The Lectre, as you know, is the device in which Bond was sent out to collect in the film, From Russia With Love. It resembled a regular case from the outside, but it was actually a top-secret decoder. The Lectre in this scenario, would be a briefcase. When a player acquires it, it goes into their lefthand (if possible). While carrying it, they can still equip a weapon, to help defend themselves (again, if possible). The first player to hold the Lectre for a specified amount of time, is declared the winner.

That'd spice up the boring old Flag Tag a bit.

That's what I was shooting for actually, but haven't been able to get the left hand gun to work quite right. I can toss a flag in the left hand and a gun on the right, get the gun to cycle properly, and the flag stays out... However, it has the annoying glitch of constantly redrawning both the weapon and flag until you hold the fire button down for a second. Then it works swimmingly.

It's still only a couple days in but it seems most people are shooting for a 'end when you've got the flag X long' setting. Still, we'll let this run on a while longer.

Could it be possible to create a "Gladiator" to GE and PD?

Have you played Time Splitters?

One man is the Gladiator and he get points for killing others (he is maybe stronger, with automatic shield or something), others don't, but the killer of the Gladiator will be the next Gladiator?

That would be awesome....

Hmm... Gladiator would be simple if they had a really nifty weapon, like the Golden Gun ;*)

Adding "You Only Live Twice" to PD would be neat, but it's a pain to hack that game. I've added a few scenarios to GE over time, but mostly now I'm interested in getting a flag setup that doesn't suck.
