 |
|
Wreck and I want to get to the bottom of this: I made an update to mupen64.ini to have entries for a few new maps, including my Office Tower. For some reason the map is still appearing as Unknown Dump for everyone who's tried it except us, even though their ROMs' MD5 Checksums and Header Codes were identical to the ones I used in the ini.
Here's the updated ini I made:
http://dragonsbrethren.slickproductions.org/files/goldeneye/mupen64.ini
(I also sent the changes I made to GE MASTER, so the ini on Goldeneye Online should be updated soon if it hasn't been already)
Could everyone who uses Mupen download that and my Office Tower map if you don't have it already and let me know if the ROM is detected correctly?
Wreck has his own theory for why it isn't working for other people:
Quote: | <Wreck> Maybe we're special.
<Wreck> You made the map, mission, multi... and I helped with after texture touch ups.
<Wreck> Only we deserve to play it? |

I may have solved this one on my own. I downloaded the Mupen64++ 0.1.3.12 beta to give it a try today. When I started up I forgot about the ini, so I copied it over, refreshed, and didn't see any changes to the ROM list. Then I realized what happened, I forgot to close the emulator beforehand and the ini wasn't getting updated. Closing the emulator and copying it over a second time worked fine, so I'm pretty sure that's what happened to the guys that were trying to play it last night. A simple mistake but very frustrating when you don't know what's going on. |

Not being able to see what you're doing I'm not sure Scorpion, but why don't you give it another try? Just download the ini again, copy it into your Mupen folder the same way you did last night, then start the emulator and see what happens.
Edit: Actually, why not download the beta version of Mupen first? Wreck and I wanted to play around with that, we don't have to worry about having the same save files with that:
http://okaycreations.com/Mupen64++%20Beta%200.1.3.12.zip
Copy the ini into the same folder as that. Keep your other copy of Mupen in case we don't like the beta for whatever reason. |

Okay, I'll walk you through the process from start to finish:
Right click on the link to the ini, chose Save As... or Save Link As... (The text is different depending on what browser you're using).
A window will pop up asking you were to save the file, navigate to the Mupen64 Beta folder, and save it in there.
Since there's already an ini another window will pop up saying a file with the same name already exists and as if you want to replace it. Make absolutely sure the emulator isn't running then say yes.
Load Mupen and see what happens. |

Excellent.
I'm betting the other guy from last night did the same thing I did, not sure about you since you said you closed the emulator but it doesn't really matter, it's working now.
Edit: Just saw your edit, not sure what's wrong, I'll look into it.

When you say default settings, what do you mean? It's fine on mine, I didn't have a save in place at first but once I copied it from my other Mupen directory everything loaded up good. |

Okay, that's the same thing that happened to me, you just need a save. Do you still have the one from last night? If not I can upload it for you again. If you do have it make sure it's named GoldenEye 007 (U) [Dragonsbrethren's Office]. |

That's the ROM, saves aren't shown in the list, the ROM name in the list is its name in the ini, not the file name.
Why not just play through Dam on Agent and see if Office pops up instead of Facility? |
