Yep, but that's a great find. It's called Multigen. It was an aircraft simulator package or something like that. |

Multigen is the name of the company, does the article say which product was used? They have several, I don't have time to read the article right now to see if it mentions which one was used.
While it would be awesome to make new GE maps with the same tools the original team did, my past experience with "normal" 3D modeling software means I probably wouldn't really enjoy using it. Maybe I'm wrong, but all their stuff is commercial so there's no easy way to find out if I'd like it or not. |

Well, I also recently became interested in this, and old articles I found suggest that what was used in this case were custom products made for Nintendo to be part of the official devkits, so I'm not sure how useful current modern incarnations of that software would to anything goldeneye related.
Look at Howard Lincoln's words "We selected MultiGen's tools, including GameGen II [...]".
I think it's safe to assume he's refering to just what I said before. They were looking for software to build a devkit for the N64 and contracted multigen (now presagis) to make custom built versions of their tools (apparently "creator" along with the mentioned multigen2) to be part of it.
The problem here is that these softwares, even if you were to find a copy on the net -which is highly unlikely, anyway- are made to run SGI's IRIX OS on special purpose Indy workstations fitted with an N64 dev board.
You could probably get them if you cand find someone to sell you a complete devkit of those. I mean, the hardware along with the software.
There are some pictures of these arround I can search for again if you can't find them.
EDIT: Here, for example http://www.yntproject.net/index.php?section=u64 |
