I've been wanting to buy one of these for a while now, I finally got one. Spent $150 for it on ebay, had to drive 2 hours to pick it up. This thing is a BEAST! Not to mention quite heavy.
I got to try goldeneye on it via emulation today. Simply incredible. The picture quality on this blows LCD monitors right out of the water. I tried to take a picture but the picture didn't do it justice. |

If you ask me, a computer monitor above 21" is overkill...
But yeah, CRTs destroy LCDs in the image quality department. _________________ Pure hand-drawn goodness.

GoldenEye really does look quite nice on emulation. |

I disagree, it looks alright but I still think the original console's output looks better.
Nice monitor, bmw. I forgot how much I liked CRT's when I got this new computer and went back to using one, they make everything look better than an LCD. |

The problem is on bigger tvs, we need the updated GE for XBox It just doesn't scale well. But the PC emulation adds filters on the graphics and resizes the resolution to look "better". |

i agree with subdrag the emulation of goldeneye looks better than the console version _________________ "We have always found the Irish a bit odd, They refuse to be English" Winston Churchill

I'm siding with DB on this one, simply because I noticed some graphical oddities with GE on PC. For example, fog is faulty on PJ64, so you can sometimes see characters clearly even though they are quite far away. |

There's no debate that the output on console has some details that can't be reproduced via emulation, but I think the emulated version is much sharper. You can only get so much out of a composite output on console.
Don't get me wrong, the console looks great on a regular tv, but it looks worse when displayed on a higher quality monitor. |

Its a shame that CRT's will be all but obsolete in 5-10 years. Though I suppose it makes good business sense to go LCD since they're so much smaller, lighter, and easier to ship and handle. |

If you you want the perfect TV experience, this is the only way to go.
It's been discontinued, however, and even if you can find one, be prepared to pay two arms and two legs for shipping. It weighs 200 pounds. _________________ Pure hand-drawn goodness. |
