hmmm...I support the idea of an India mission.
Goldeneye got away with silo, and that was never mentioned in the movie.
Levels like that allow for more creative freedom and the ability to drop less interesting levels that pertain to the story line but aren't too fun to play. |

I hope this doesn't get us a C&D from any of the involved parties :S |

Good to hear that you agree. Entropy Soldier, exactly. I think we should take any detours possible around the original plot to further the gameplay. That's what made Goldeneye so good in the first place. Recent Bond games try to stay really close to the plot, only to miss out in the department where it really matters, gameplay.
radorn, well, I'm not sure what licenses this project violates... If it's Goldeneye or more generally, the Bond franchise, we could just take a look at Goldeneye Source, a mod with much more attention, even media attention, and they're doing just fine so far. Personally, I think it could be a violation against one of their most popular movies, Goldfinger. Especially since it's called Goldfinger 64. The thing that talks for us is that it's completely non profitable. And in order to play it you'd have to, technically speaking, own the game.
Officer, we had no idea that people didn't rip the .rom themselves, but that they downloaded it off the Internet! How despicable. We thought that everyone that played it on an emulator had ripped the .rom with a backup device from a cartridge they already owned. That's what we'll say.
From a personal stand point, I can say that I own the original cartridge as well as the downloaded .rom. Except the cartridge isn't the PAL version.
EDIT: To clarify, I know, and you should know, that we don't stand a chance in any kind of legal situation, just trying to lighten the mood! If they wanted, they could wipe us from the surface of the earth in two seconds flat. This project violates too many different licenses to even count, but, and I do think this is a but, it is non-profitable. That doesn't save us from a c&d letter if that day comes, but maybe it puts us down a notch on the threat list. They may take legal actions against anyone on that list no matter how far up/down they are, but that would only be speculation on my part... |

Monkeyface, do you have a list of models others can make? Cyberen has said he can try and help, but doesn't really want to make full levels, though he can help with models.
"This is Cyberen, I model and texture things in Blender 3d. I'd be glad to help out by making props in the game. Please e-mail me at cyberen_broyoshi@yahoo.com with a reference picture and other info and I'll e-mail an .obj and .mtl file along with the textures involved. Thanks!"" |

I did message him with a list, but maybe it'd be good with some sort of "public" prop list? A list which people in the project can add to and those who feel like it can do models in it. |

Wow...I've been away way too long.
This sort of work is amazing! I'm seriously interested to see how things are going to go (probably straight down the flusher when I contribute something).
Model and guard wise. I was working on making fully custom character models, but stopped short when I picked up a contract. I do know that those LODs are a bitch to work with in the object file and you've really got to keep an eye out for them. The entire process is the same as say, modding the tank, except I'd expect the arrangement to armature to be more annoying. Haven't tinkered with it.
I will say that your Aston Martin looks great! Give us a yell if you want it "Tanked" hehehe.
I also like your adherence to the book - I thought it was better. _________________ No Mr. Bond, I expect you to be re-coded! |

Okay, fixed that. Will be adding a mod profile the following days, not to start "pushing" the mod, but to make it seem more organized to those who may think about joining/helping.
Also, got some map work to show you soon. |

Maybe some GoldenEye: Source Devs and PLayers are interesting. I think Sharpsh00tah is interesting. ( BTW he can reales his maps, really ) _________________ -----------------------------------------------------

MRKane, didn't see your post! Thanks, much appreciated. Yes, we move forward.
I haven't sent you the car to make it Tankified, one reason is because I'm not entirely happy with the model, another is that I feel that I'd like to finish one map before I continue fiddling with props. But I'd very much like it Tankified, it'd be one of the best additions, technically, I think.
The mission list is very much preliminary, and any suggestions and critique will be taken into consideration. |

hmmmm...I would say remove Mexico: Hotel Ambush. Its not a major scene in the movie (unlike the Miami hotel scene) and having two hotel ambushes side by side is a bit redundant.
Perhaps instead, Add one near the end with bond eliminating/investigating Auric's Chinese associates? |

Much better. Thank you, should the Mexico hotel ambush go away completely, or should it stay inside the first mission? |

hmmmm... i guess you could have "return to the hotel" as the final objective (otherwise i don't see how you would end it). Then you could have a cutscene where bond where bond walks up to the girl, and turns around to shoot his assailant (since it would be hard to script something similar to the movie).
I advise placing the hotel somewhere away from the silo/harbor, so there isn't much backtracking, if you decide to go this route. |
