Well, I haven't seen them before, so a big thanks goes out to Kode-Z for actually thinking of posting the links.
Is it just me, or does Elvis look a lot less friendly...? _________________

He's absolutely hideous now. I hate the art direction on this remake. At least you can use the original graphics; I'm not opposed to upgraded graphics, but these aren't an upgrade as far as I'm concerned. |

I suppose that any detail added to Elvis (or other Maian's, for that matter) is going to look very wrong, considering how smooth and bland the original models are. But now he almost looks like an ancient creature, who has been around to see planets evolve and be destroyed. Will the voice even feel like it suits him? I doubt they'll be changing the character dialogue. Maybe some sound effects, but not voice-overs. _________________

Doh Joanna doesn't look right - looks terrrible And most of guards look awful too.
Also graphics look washed up, like those silly hi-res paks which are just images rescaled and filtered...ugh |

I think that's the problem. The artist who did these textures probably wanted to add detail to them so that they looked upgraded from the original, but they're just terrible looking as a result. They should have left them with smooth skin, like they were originally intended to have. They easily could've given them this awful looking rough skin on the N64 if they wanted them to look that way, but they didn't. This remake is simply changing too much for the worse; as Spyster already mentioned, Cassandra doesn't even have the right head shape anymore. |

The dataDyne Shocktroopers were some of the coolest looking characters in the original Perfect Dark, so how could they possible screw that up?...
Well, it appears as though they have. With an oversized helmet, which seems to feature a see-through visor, and a uniform that was borrowed from a "futuristic" eighties pop music video, they've lost almost all of their style. Maybe headshots will be easier to land on that melon.
Daniel Carrington, while a good looking model, seems a bit younger than his traditional version. Perhaps he's just decided to purchase some Grecian 5 and turn back the clock hair-wise.
And Joanna...
I really don't know about this one. It's not so much the face that concerns me, but the expression on it that does. Maybe it's the overdone eye make-up and blush that is throwing me off, but something is definitely amiss. _________________

I was going to make some not-so-nice comments about Joanna's over-use of makeup, but refrained. (I'm glad that they ditched the cartoony red hair, at least.)
You're right about the shocktrooper, too. That helmet is ridiculous looking, especially compared to how cool the original was when I first saw it. The regular dD security look like they've been wearing the same uniforms for 10 years now, they're so faded compared to the originals.
You know, the GE remake had this same problem with character models, though not as bad with the guards. Remember how Trevelyan looked nothing like Sean Bean? I just assumed it was a licensing issue in that case, but now they can't even get their own creations right... |

I like the new realistic look of Carrington, and Joanna isn't that bad either...
maybe just well... something is missing.
She looks like heavy metal singer
Reminds me of that ape girl in Planet Of the Apes
Those textures in the door are terrible

Hmm, bear with me on this one...
Anyone else think that the "new" Jo looks like Rihanna a little bit?

Ape girl: Are we talking classing Planet, or the Burton remake Planet? I'm guessing that you're referring to Helena Bonham Carter's character, right? The one who defends the human creatures? I can kind of see it, in the shot of her on the helipad.
Rihanna: Well, maybe Jo uses the same line of cosmetics and hair products?
Sky: Hmmm, is that a reddish sky with cyan clouds in the "original" version of the image? I'd have to play PD again on an N64 console to see if it's the same. I do like the new skyline for the 360 update, though. It's one of the few things they've made better... _________________
