So, now "Perfect Dark" is now only WEEKS away!
Rare have updated their news page this week:
Rare wrote: | But you lot were salivating for PD XBLA updates, so in the run-up to the official PR campaign we went ahead and offered the odd tease from our own lunchtime PD practice sessions. Fly-by-wire rocket disasters, overzealous GuardSims, crossbow bolts in unsavoury places – oh, the larks. And it won't be too long now before you're all at it. |
The game has been rated "M" once again.
Final features:
Players: 1-4
Players Co-op: 1-2
Multiplayer Versus
In-game Dolby Digital
HDTV 1080p
Storage Device
Players: 2-8
Players Co-op: 1-2
Leaderboards
Voice Messaging
Voice Support
SOURCE: Official Perfect Dark XBLA Page
There are apparently a few more additional "features" that will be revealed soon. Could this be Perfect Face? I certainly hope so! 4J Studios reinstated the Stop 'n' Swop in BK/BT so anything is possible!
As for the release date; it is still to be confirmed, but it should definitely be winging it's way by the end of March at the very latest. Will post more info if I find any! |

New pic: Daniel Carrington!
Also, the game will be playable at Microsoft's upcoming X10 event next Thursday, with a potential release date being revealed then. I can't wait!

Thanks for keeping us updated, Kode-Z.
I have hope for the game, but things still seem like they need work. Certain weapon and prop models have this really dull look to them. There's a softening or something going on that clashes with the highly detailed backgrounds. Unless they plan on addressing this visual issue before release, that stuff is going to stick out like a sore thumb. _________________

If you guys want my opinion, don't get a 360, get an N64 flashcart or give your PC's an upgrade to emulate the games better.
This remake hasn't shown a single thing that has truly impressed me. Some of the new background textures are nice, yes, but they're offset by the awful-looking weapons and the characters simply look...wrong. |

Yeah. I actually have to agree. It kills me to say that though, but the classic is always the best. I mise well sick with emulation. _________________

We feel the same ways, the only thing that the port has for it is the 8 player multiplayer.
but since me and other 15 i know would really like to play at the same time
(like once a month going to a cybercafe with many machines)
8 is just not enough.
Graphics errors can be corrected with hack, which is why i support bringing the game to windows:

I would really love to play the game in split screen with a laptop that has s-video output and the adaptoid, or against others in a shopping center i go with hotspot
it would be like old days when OllO or cousins would carry around their n64s to play in group, only now 2 pcs could let us play at least 8 at same time. |

PD XBLA in action, courtesy of Major Nelson.
No video footage as of yet, BUT the game will definitely be released in MARCH!
And, seeing as XBLA titles come on Wednesdays, this narrows the possible dates as:
3rd, 10th, 17th and the 24th.
If I come across more news/info, I'll post it here! |

I don't love a lot of new textures, but it does feel like PD at least. 8 player multi online is pretty cool. Wish I could use n64 controller. |

Thanks for the info and video, Kode-Z and Plodo!
After watching that interview/demo of PD on the 360, I'm actually a little more excited about it. To hear Ken Lobb talk about the game, and how much they wanted to maintain the original 'feel' of Perfect Dark on the N64, makes it more enticing, at least for me. It definitely does have the proper PD feeling, judging by the video. I'm still not totally thrilled with some of the changes, especially to weapons and characters, but it looked better in that video than in most screenshots I've seen. Good stuff. _________________

Well, we definitely see dataDyne Central in the Combat Simulator. That's a really good new addition. I wonder how many more mission maps they've decided to include portions of for CS? Guess we'll just have to wait.
Hrmm, that might just be Counter-Operative mode...
Thanks for the link, Plodo! _________________
