If you don't recognize this song, you never played a Famicom Disk System.

I've never played a Famicon Disk System, but I can still say that it's a pretty fun little easter egg. I wonder how the heck it was discovered?

intuition? I have no idea.
I'd say the guy was listening to the menu's music for the umpteenth time in his life and though "wonder how would this sound if I speed it up", maybe he also tried reversing the song in search for satanic hidden messages? xD lol.
I'm more curious about the responsible for this. I wonder if he intended for it to be something hidden and expected users to eventually find out, or if he just needed any little melody to fit in his idea of a slowed down harmonic sound and chose that one the same that he could have chose anything else...

At normal speed it's impossible to recognize anything, but the harmonic relation between notes has to be there in order for them not to sound like you had some monkey randomly banging on a keyboard xD so it had to be some melody.

Either that, or the guy has a huge collection of songs that have been sped up sixteen times. Razz

Well, I meant listening to it while doing something in the menu, managing memory card saves or other useful thing, not that he was listening to it just for the hell of it, although I do know of some individuals that liked to have the console connected for long periods of time, using the menu sound as relaxing background music Neutral

Ha, awesome. Never would've known it was there. This is already in the related section, but if anyone missed it here's the FDS startup screen:
