Alpha and Beta are commonly used code names for things still in development. Ill use DOOM as an example. The DOOM Alpha, which was supposed to be never released, but somehow got out, is incredibly crappy. There is no sound, few sprites, and barely any animations. It still goes off the original storyline, which was completley scrapped. Later press relases, you can consider betas, they have full levels, although not nearly all the levels for the full game yet. The game is shaping up, theres sound, pretty good animations and sprites, as well as some features. THe final version is exactly where the devleopers want it, they took a few features away from the beta, since they eventually decided they didnt liek them, but they added a few in too. All the animations and levels and sprites are completed. The storyline is rough, the way they want it. So to answer your question: Quote: | But it is it the really eraly days of Goldeneye when the game was first tested? | Yes. Alpha is commonly the term used before Beta. Beta is more likeley to have features we would love in the final (All Bonds, etc) but having an Alpha, beta, or whatever development version of the game would be awesome to have. |

I wish ... well I just checked anyway, thats a no for both piratebay and mininova.
Nobody knows the details of Alpha Goldneye. Go visit Detstar for information on pre-release versions of Goldeneye. It was likely still a rail shooter at its "Alpha" point, although there are liley many many lost Goldeneye builds that cant be really broken down to Alpha and Beta. |
