The non-collision style wall clipping is basically there to tell the AI that they can't see through or shoot through something. It doesn't actually obstruct movement, so it's perfect for upper cave walls, or slanted architecture (which can be found in levels like Aztec). It'd be perfectly suited to the metal support beams up in the attic, but you'd still need real wall clipping on them up to a certain point (maybe neck high). You'd have to play with one beam and see where it feels right in-game. Don't want your head poking through it!
