A long with the many other changes being made to Perfect Dark for the GoldenEye: X project, the Simulants need to have their names altered. This includes the difficulty and special type. Here is a list of the original terms, as well as my current choice for newest entries. I'm open to suggestions, so please post with any ideas you may have.

PD <-> GE:X

Difficulty
Meat <-> Weak (the worst possible)
Easy <-> Easy (not completely hopeless)
Normal <-> Normal (the standard)
Hard <-> Hard (a good challenge)
Perfect <-> Great (very difficult)
Dark <-> Elite (the absolute best)

Type
PeaceSim <-> ThiefSim (steals weapons, but doesn't use them)
ShieldSim <-> ArmorSim (obsessed with having full armour)
RocketSim <-> PyroSim (likes using explosive weapons)
KazeSim <-> RiotSim (isn't afraid of consequences)
FistSim <-> MeleeSim (generally fights unarmed)
PreySim <-> CheapSim (preys on weaker opponents)
CowardSim <-> TimidSim (afraid of encounters)
JudgeSim <-> HonorSim (goes after the stronger enemies)
FeudSim <-> GrudgeSim (picks a target and sticks with it)
SpeedSim <-> QuickSim (runs faster than most humans)
TurtleSim <-> SnailSim (has a strong shield, but moves slowly)
VengeSim <-> NemeSim (attacks whoever last killed them)

And as a side note, these are two of my favourite websites...

I had also thought about using the different "Agent" ranks for the Sims, but decided against it. The human players are supposed to be the agents brushing up on their skills, while the Simulants are other assorted characters that you would encounter during a real-world mission. In most cases (though not in GoldenEye, oddly enough), you face off against soldiers of different skill levels, and not against former members of your own agency.

Weak: Not only are they easy to kill, but they don't even put forth a real effort. It's as though they shouldn't even be on the battlefield.

Easy, Normal and Hard: General difficulties that fit well.

Great: Internally, the two Siberian Guards (from Arkangelsk and St. Petersburg) are labeled as "GreatGuard". To be great is to be very good, but there are still better out there.

Elite: The top of the line enemy in GoldenEye is the Moonraker Elite. They have the greatest accuracy, which can leave the average player taking a lot of damage quite quickly. It's also a nod to the Elite speedrunners, who have devoted a lot of time to GoldenEye over the years.

hmm, I (speaking personal preference) don't think that they require changing.

Sheild to Armour is good, because sheilds dont exist.
Theifsim is also good.
riot and honer are also good.

err, all the rest are prety much generic of any time.

I could just leave pretty much everything as-is, but that seems kind of lazy and uncreative. I'd like to try to make this feel different from PD, which means we've got to change as many things as we can. The Sim types are still the same at their core, but deserve unique titles for GoldenEye, to help better distinguish the two games.

Gotta love thesauruses Smile

If I recall, the PD Darksims were the dinner jacket guys, paying homage to james bond if I believe right?

So, I think it would be equal to have Joanna be the default "Darksim" in GE:X, just like the James bond style dinner jacket guys in PD.

Isn't the best thought, but I just think it would be interesting.

On behalf of the-elite, I thank you for the nod! Very Happy The irony of course is that as a whole we are not as skilled at multiplayer as we probably should be, with some exceptions. Myself being one of the exceptions. Wink

EliteSim: As it is right now, the default body for the EliteSim is the white dinner jacket. Which is pretty cool, considering it belonged to the original James Bond, and is one of his most classic looks. Whether or not this stays, I don't know. I have to determine where all of the defaults are setup for characters, both human and Simulant alike.

You guys deserve some props for your determination and love of the game. Somehow, The Elite manage to push each other into getting faster times, but never really make it feel like a competition. They're very supportive, even when it means your own time could be beaten. Between the hacking community and the speedrunners, GoldenEye has been kept alive for the last thirteen years.

I'm pretty sure that at least four of the PD characters will be left in GE:X. They'll probably make "surprise" appearances during the later challenges, and will then be unlocked and made available for use.

It seems as though each of the Sim types has their own default body. I'll have to make a list of them, and try to track down where that data is stored. After that, it's just a matter of deciding which characters to use for which type. The white dinner jacket fills the EliteSim slot nicely, so it might stick.

I think the meat-darksims should be similar to the sims in PD being guards.

Here's what I think the Meat-Dark sims should be

Weak > Siberian Guard II [Dam Guard]
Easy > Russian Soldier [Facility Guard]
Normal > Russian Infantry [Silo/Statue Guard]
Hard > Janus Marine [Frigate/Train/Depot Guard]
Great > Janus Special Forces [Caverns/Cradle Guard]
Elite > White Dinner Jacket

As for the Special Simulants, I don't have anything to suggest at the moment.

I took a look at the default bodies used in PD for each of the eighteen types. One thing I don't really care for, is the fact that they utilized Carrington and Mr. Blonde. To me, they don't fit in. It should be more generic characters that you meet during missions. With that in mind, as well as TH126's suggestions, here is my current list...

WeakSim: Russian Soldier [dD Infantry]
EasySim: Siberian Guard (Brown) [dD security]
NormalSim: Janus Marine [dD Trooper]
HardSim: Jungle Commando [dD Shock Trooper]
GreatSim: Janus Special Forces [NSA Bodyguard]
EliteSim: Bond (White Tuxedo) [Dinner Jacket; Moore]

ThiefSim: Male Scientist [dD Lab Tech]
ArmorSim: St. Petersburg Guard [G5 Swat]
PyroSim: Russian Infantry [G5 Guard]
RiotSim: Arctic Commando [Presidential Security]
MeleeSim: Male Civilian (Vest) [Pelagic II Guard]
CheapSim: Siberian Guard (Black) [dD shock Trooper]
TimidSim: Male Civilian (Red) [President]
HonorSim: Commandant [Steward]
GrudgeSim: Moonraker Elite [NSA Lackey]
QuickSim: Naval Officer [Mr. Blonde]
SnailSim: Helicopter Pilot [Carrington]
NemeSim: Siberian Special Forces [Alaskan Guard]

Great list wreck. I think you incorporated pretty much all of GE's generic characters!
