It runs on a Wii port of DosBox, a DOS/PC emulator. Win3x runs over DOS.
There's a DosBox port for N64 too, which they have demonstrated with Monkey Island and some other old DOS game. |

Hmmm, that seems interesting. Would there be any really good reason to run Windows on your Wii, though? Call me old fashioned, but I prefer to think of a video gaming console as... a video gaming console. _________________

well, given a good enough emulation, yes, but real world cases tend not to be so clean. Sometimes a certain game or homebrew app depends on something that is not well replicated on an emulator.
For example, a good deal of n64 homebrew just doesn't work on emulators.
In the end, it's a matter of trying, if you are so inclined... |

So far there is no use for Windows being on wii.
But maybe sent's there is a D drive on your SD card maybe you put a download game on it and play it on windows 3.1 like Simcity 2000. _________________ There totally nothing to read here. |

not rtelated to the topic but to my previous reply.
I mixed up stuff. There's no dosbox port for n64. the monkey island emulation I have seen was done with a scumm port instead. scumm is just an emulator of the engine of many classic graphic adventures, dosbox is a DOS/PC emu. |

Win 3.1 is essentially just a GUI for DOS. So, really, you could use it as a front-end to DOS-based games. It is a very small and efficient OS--I use it all the time. The bugger runs speedily on 4MB of memory.
Oh, incidentally, did they get the 32bit extension working with it too? _________________ (\_/) Beware

LOL okay.
I find it really odd. How modern console chip sets are so good, and it looks like they have so much RAM, but really they suck.
You can't even run WINDOWS 95 on a Wii? But it can run a game?

I think its the emulator that makes it slower on the wii. And the Ram to.
I herd if you go deep in your wii you can change the way how ram works.
Cus it dus not use all of its ram in it dont know why thu. _________________ There totally nothing to read here. |
