What is one of the best fairly NEW shooters that you have had your hands on?
Personally, I enjoyed 007 Nightfire very much. I still play it sometimes, actually...I'm hoping that there could be an online patch for a PS2 ROM (I don't really want to have to deal with the PC version; levels are too long and boring).
Valve has some pretty good stuff, too.

Call of Duty...it's one of the most boring, run-of-the-mill war shooters I have ever seen. It's not like people haven't seen games where the weapons were customizable and ranks for your character.
The fanbase for that game series is even worse. It's just a bunch of pretentious wiggers and hipsters who are completely ignorant for what older shooters still have to offer. |

I actually enjoyed Resistance: Fall of Man, but haven't picked up the sequel. Another FPS title that I'm looking forward to playing sometime is Bioshock. It seems interesting enough, and has also spawned a sequel.
Believe it or not, I actually don't care that much for First Person Shooters. GoldenEye and Perfect Dark just have something that really appeals to me. Probably the fact that they were made with love and care, by younger developers with something to prove. _________________

I hate modern shooters. I hate the vietnam/modern war.
I love WWII, WWI, Korean War, Civil War, all that old stuff.
Modern war just sucks.
And so does Modern Warfare 2. I played it. Not an inch of fun. They should of just stuck to the World War 2. _________________

If you re-read his post, you may notice that he never once called the Vietnam War modern. He just said that he didn't like games based on that particular event, or the more modern wars that current games are based on.

I'm not trying to be "mean"; It's just my opinion of the game.
If you like Call of Duty, I don't care. I'm just saying what I think of it. I wasn't saying that you were some sort of metaphorical leper that I should shun just because you play it. |

But your opinion was also negative toward the fans of the game. I've never played any of the Call of Duty games before, so I can't say whether I like them or not. Lumping all of the fans into a category isn't exactly fair, either. It seems as though Aries quite enjoys Modern Warfare 2, but also has a very high respect for more classic FPS titles, such as GoldenEye. _________________

We didn't ask for your opinions nor your snotty attitude, you chose to express them both. I mean we are allowed to express our opinions without being criticized, correct? You don't have to be rude about it. _________________

While I'm much more fond of "Classic First Person Shooters", such as GoldenEye, Turok: Dinosaur Hunter, Quake, Doom, and Dues Ex. I have been actually growing towards newer first person shooters.
While Call of Duty has never impressed me at all, I personally feel Medal of Honor was the dominate WWII shooter. Their modern counter-parts(or rather "updates") are a little left to be desired. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare I feel are falling to "Halo Syndrome". For those who don't know what that is.. or don't know exactly what I'm getting at, let me explain.
After the release of Halo: Combat Evolved in 2001, about 95 - 97 % of all First Person Shooters following in it's wake copied off of the game in great detail and wanted to be just like it. Case of point: The 2008 reboot of the Turok series becoming a Jurrasic Park meets Halo hybrid. Space Marines..Space Marines EVERYWHERE. If you don't see how COD is doing this.. think about it.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 1 & 2 have left the IW Engine in it's wake and now everyone is trying to get a piece with this "Modern Shooter" thing. Even GoldenEye is doing it.. see what I mean?
I still prefer classic shooters over modern day ones. _________________ Who? |

I have never play a Halo game thu i want to so bad.
But i do have to agree Medal of Honor was a one of my favorite games ever to play.
But one Medal of Honor of game that fail so baddly to me is front line that one was so bad i cud not play it what so ever after the 3rd level.
But the best Medal of Honor was Medal of Honor Underground that game may have bad grafets but the game was so much fun and when you get the cheats it made it even more fun.
And the muti man that what made me still play it for so long to. _________________ There totally nothing to read here. |

I haven't really played Medal of Honor, though it is familiar to me. That and Wolfenstein (I feel quite indifferent about the newest one, however) are probably the games that could revolutionize war shooters.
Also, yeah, I wouldn't blame you for your opinions on this "Halo Syndrome". In my opinion, it's probably one of the most overrated shooters I have laid eyes on. I think that they should have stopped at Halo 2 before milking the franchise to the extent they did now.
