I finally unpacked my N64, I'd been procrastinating since I got here, assuming that when the time came, I'd pull it out and enjoy a Goldeneye/Perfect Dark/WWF No Mercy marathon.. And *chokes back a tear* it had passed away.
Personally I think it was the low quality converter I had (darn 220v plugs). In that case it's my own fault for being so frugal..
RIP my N64 (unknown-2011).. _________________ "Inspiration strikes but once.. If you're forgetful, carry a pen." -Me |

Another Great game.
I had a transparant N64 which I spilled coke on as a little boy.
We bought a black one a few years ago and it still works. _________________ Also known as Spyster or Nyxem

I can hear the faintest sound of bagpipes in the distance...
Sorry about your N64, Cazador.
Maybe you'll be able to pick up a replacement down the road. _________________

replacements are cheap in the USA.
you could even try a "bare" one, that is, just the main deck, no PSU, jumper pak or cables, and use these from your current one, just replacing the console itself.
that's the cheapest option and it's almost guaranteed to work. |

Thanks, you guys, for your responses and for your sentiment. I definitely am going to order a new one, most likely off of amazon.com since it will be cheap and it will get here quickly..
I'll probably also take this one apart to see what fried and order a replacement part for it. _________________ "Inspiration strikes but once.. If you're forgetful, carry a pen." -Me |

Main components of the N64 board are custom and hardly available out there for ordering. You'd have to cannibalize on one console to use it's components for the new one, Frankenstein, at which point you might as well just stick to the new one.
There used to be very cheap (unver $10, or even under $5) N64 decks on ebay last time I checked, but looks like this is no longer the case. maybe somewhere else. There's definitely sources of dirt cheap bare N64s in the USA at least.
This is the option I recommend you. |
