I have been working to day to try and find a way to get Sketchup Free version working with the editor. The free version only supports exporting to .dae Collada format. Luckily, I was able to convert this .dae file to .obj file using Blender (pretty simple, Import, then Export and make sure settings include groups and materials).

There are some limitations:
1) Unlike the pro .obj export, the groups that are preserved are only the lowest level groups. So if you nested before like:
Room01
.........primary

in .dae it will only get primary

So either stick to one level, or in your lowest level call it:
Room01
....Room01 primary

2) Texture colors are not actually incorporated into material file. They just make a new version of the texture every colored version. As such I'd recommend coloring in GoldenEye editor.

3) Textures appear to be saved as jpg/png somewhere along the process. You will need to convert all files to 256 color .bmp (use IrFanView), then in .mtl file change all of the full path'd jpg/pngs to bmp. Original GoldenEye bmps will not be preserved, so this really only is good for all new levels.

I am still working more but it appears to at least basically work, I will post more here as I learn it.

Ah it be great to see Google Sketchup working on the Goldeneye editor.

It works wonders for making levels. Because of its low polygon system. And texturing it is easy to.

Maybe add a google Sketchup import in the next update?
