Ollllo here
Mad Here is one of the reasons we can't get nothing PD GE related done -
Like a thorn on our foot for years, since our (Oldyz & i) simple Stereoscopic experiments -
We finally managed to find a way to dramatize what emulating some 16 bit games in stereoscopic mode will look like:

BEST way to view this video is to use 1080p mode
----Cross your eyes
Shocked (à la acceptable67)Shocked
----Use a 3d tv,
Or in the case of Wreck, dust off that 3DS and point it at the screen in parallel 3D mode with the browser window a bit smaller in size

----Red blue glasses work too , but do not do it justice -

With the Nintendo 3ds in our midst, now we have the perfect machine to play all the Genesis , Super NES & others in stereoscopic mode -
Later on, if we succeed on finishing our 3d tutorial/'manifesto' for PD & Goldeneye, i hope that stereo emulation starts becoming a reality.

More 16 bit goodies are in store - & there is finally a good use for youtube (imo)

Oldyz is on vancation - having 4d hallucinations

Not sure if I'm alone, but I'm tired of respending money for a game I already own, and like better on the original system. So I'm through with all this!

Oh nonono --
that is why the intention is to use emulation hacking & re-programming on the old hits that are capable of such enchancement -

I agree completely with you -

Starfox 64 3d is nice , but to justify the $$$$ spent
i expected much , much more that a bit of graphical enhancements & 3D

If i where in charge of the the project -
there would have been extra levels -
more & better multiplayer levels
The old SNES game contained within, WITH enhanced & OLD graphics mode ,
and the option to even edit & create multiplayer levels -
+ all the options left intact (the ability to turn off huds, aiming reticles and enable cockpit view on all times)

Oldyz is in vancation: hungry for Durian fruit? but hate the smell? try Umbrella Corp's new scent-less Durians -

As far as the poll question goes, I wouldn't replay all games if they were in 3D mode. There's a handful that would be interesting, but most older titles would need modifications to the actual games themselves to even make proper use of it. The recent Resident Evil games, some First-Person Shooters, or even some 2D/3D style platformers (like Donkey Kong and Mario) would be fun, though.

I don't understand what's all this "3D hype", I've been 3D gaming since PS1/N64.

GameFAQs had a poll related to this not too long ago.

I mean, wearing some glasses, and buying better hardware, will make you jump "IN" the game ?

Stereoscopic mode, not 3D (super old school), does not seem to benefit..

At least not from what I've "seen"

Well, in a very technical sense you could simply render each sprite layer at varying heights. That wouldn't solve more complicated issues like actual polygonal games or mode7, but still, you'd have your background/foreground stuff in most cases.

Not having depth perception it is interesting seeing different spectrascopal projects. The Virtual Boy was the first time I've ever seen anything in 3D and maybe the last. With the lever turned all the way up I can notice a slight difference in distance--enough to make my eyes sore.

It's a neat gimic and with more refinement might stick well. Still though, eye strain is going to be the biggest issue to overcome.

Dang. I just wikipedia'd the Virtual Boy. Big stuff for the time..damn it's from '95

Stereoscopy only interested me when I learned Manhunt 2 for Windows features it. When I run it though, since I don't have the hardware, it's just good to get rid of red flashes through all the executions.

I saw some of it, sterescopic, on the 'tube though. All red and green..or something. Some glasses are needed for it, just two color glasses..

if it makes xense.

Olllo here:

@ zoinkity -

BUmmer,
if you have had eye issues there is still problems even after correcting them -

recently , on the documentary-ish show "Throught the wormhole" , one of the theoretical scientists featured had corrective surgery to fix her eyes, but had to train and learn for many years to perceive the world in 3 dimensions -
Once she did, though - she was inspired to propose & work on a very interesting & radical theory about how we humans can't detect other dimensions that might very well be around us but can't see-
Or some thing like that Confused

.

Take that feeling & apply it for 12 years -
We (Oldyz & gang) honestly thought that the Nintendo DS was going to be a continuation of the virtual boy in some form -
We even trolled the Nintendo forums & told them about it years before -

NO need for glasses my friend -
just use a mirror (the best money-free method) -

Double, Double Toil and Trouble 2: Troublelest

We will try all next week to solve many issues -
i need animated 3d preview thumbnails - DONE
re-upload the contra video -- DONE
& figure out how to upload & correctly compress the videos to a reasonable size -- DONE

3 gigabytes for 5 stinkin' minutes of footage is a pain to manage -
My insistence on uploading to HD format (for 3Dtv users) is bordering on sickness -

The new issue is youtube's limit of only 30 frames per second -
there is no fixing that
Crying or Very sad

Donkey Kong country is also a pain & i'm afraid Jungle hijinx will be a 3 part thing-STILL WORKING ON IT

Lets see how this week turns out ¿capisce?

Oldyz is on vancation - electrically shaving gorillas in the mist
