It's really impressive how Rare updated it. I still hope one day we'll see it. |

Hey welcome to the forums. Heh, I haven't been around much lately so this is my first time seeing this. Very nice! Heck with Nintendo sucking bad these days, are they desperate enough to sell out and actually work something out with their GoldenEye version? With that said, I've been pretty happy with the overlock 1964 multiplayer as is. |

It's sad how Nintendo couldn't come up with an agreement on this. These pictures look amazing, looks as if it was already finished and it's sad how they just threw it in the trash. Would of been awesome having this on XBLA, i really don't know Microsoft's side of the story, but Nintendo is a selfish company honestly.

I *really* wish that this had been released. But then, if it was only a graphical update then we can live without it, though it's sad that the millions of XBox 360 owners who'd never played GE64 will never get the chance to discover how great it is, when they came so close to playing the 360 version.
Do we know if any real improvements were planned over the N64 version? Multiplayer bots, new levels or cut stuff (the island in the dam, for instance), improved A.I. for the NPCs, etc?

Why, what's wrong with Nintendo now? I haven't bought one of their consoles since the Gamecube, and though a couple of mates have owned Wiis, I've never bothered playing on them much (I can't stand motion controls), and I don't think my mates bothered too much with them either, and I've yet to try a Wii-U, so I don't know if Nintendo's game quality has gone down in the last few years.

Yes, I'm happy with playing GE/PD/their mods and patches on a real N64, thanks to the brilliant Everdrive 64 (backup device, so you can play ROM images on the N64). |

They were supposedly including Dam and Frigate in multiplayer, and even teased that Citadel might've been included just to see fans' reactions. They also added the ability to select gadgets without entering the menu, showing their name where the ammo count would normally be. Other than that, I'm sure they would've reworked controls like they did for PD, separating activate from reload and giving crouch its own button. Mostly though, it was just a graphical update, which is why I could never be too upset about its cancellation. (PD XBLA actually somehow controls worse than PD N64 with a 360 controller and dual analog setup in an emulator.)
I have to say though, GE looks like it had a lot more work done graphically than PD did. I wish they showed off Jungle, it was supposed to be pretty impressive looking. As for Nintendo, the rumors flying around pinned the blame on it not being released on them, because they still hold some of the rights to the original game. Activision holds the Bond game license, and Rare's owned by Microsoft, so the game's a bit of a legal nightmare. No one's ever come out and stated exactly what the problem with releasing it was, though. |

Then factor in that Activision was releasing their own GE, so you had a case of them permitting their own competition. Oh, and UA/MGM really didn't care for the game in the first place.
It had some problems unresolved, that's for sure. Look through the Silo runthrough and you'll notice that three rooms away the ICBMs didn't load. The engine was probably just recompiled as straight as possible.
UI changes are easy. We even hacked a few in ;*) _________________ (\_/) Beware

Weren't there also plans of "extra multi levels" and "new weapons" patch releases for the PD XBLA version, too? We saw how far that went. _________________

Hey, we got...that guy. From...that game. In multiplayer.
(Okay, it was Crackdown 2, but I only know that because I saw screenshots of 4J's debug menu recently. Ask me two weeks ago and I wouldn't have had a clue what game it was anymore.) |
