hello -

I have this challenge for all Goldeneye players:

back in 1998 I had conquered Goldeneye for the 1st time,
everything was flawless, i had beaten the game with my ludicrous rules -
NO HUDs , NO autoaims, NO sights,

But then the final level, Egyptian Temple, had a particular thing, the Room where the
golden gun lays...

I knew there was a pattern to discover on the floor as soon as those blasted machine guns killed me for the first time.....

But I refused to play along, & found a way to beat the level & grab the golden gun WITHOUT the floor pattern....

the only problem is: i think i did it on the normal difficulty or worse yet - on AGENT- then later on i perfected the technique & i think i did it on 00 & 007 difficulty

Now after all these years I'm trying to do it again, but the current cartridge does not seem to "respond" to what i remember was the way to do it, neither does the emulator --

are there different versions of Goldeneye? 1.1 or something like that?

NO MATTER - the challenge is now this:
Beat egyptian without using the floor pattern to lower the glass -
preferably the same way I did it
NO CHEATING
NO LOOKING AT THE GAME'S CODE TO FIND THE WAY
NO RE-RECORDING -

If there is no success from any of you in 13 days i will reveal how i remember i did it........

Oldyz is looking for the "Prime" cartridge - it better be around man

ps: only 7 people in the world have seen me do the trick & one is Sad dead
Also - to this day i really don't know for sure how the floor pattern goes

This sounds like a fun challenge. I'm guessing the way it is done is either getting to the golden gun without raising the glass, or somehow picking up the GG after the glass has been raised. Either way it appears impossible! Video proof or it didnt happen Razz

He hehehe

what do you think i have been trying to do ......-
but somehow i can't get the trick to work

That is why i ask if there is the posibility that my"Prime Cartridge"
is some kind of version 1.0 or something like that -

The thing is, i can do a version of the trick with the current cartridge, but i do not remember that it took so long to do it -
I remember i used to pull it off under 7 minutes!!

Also - i mentioned that it can be done in 00 & 007 difficulty
but the problem is that
1- again, it takes way too long from what i remember
2- either i'm waaaaaaaaaaaaay too rusty or the current cart/ROM is somehow different from my "Prime cartridge"

either way in 13 days i will share more info - but it would be nice to
to see if anyone can pull it off before then....

Oldyz went to get som Pepto - Octopus wants revengeeeeeeeee

Lucky me I already pull this off oldyz.

Its very simple to pull this off here how.

Go in the goldengun room.

Then step on the tile then move up the the guns come out. Now run to the side and then side step into the right side of the glass and then turn and you grab the gun. Do the same on the other side. And you did it.

Now im not sure if there more then one Goldeneye version. But this works for me like that 100% of the time on mine. And it helps when i feel lazy and don't feel like doing the puzzle. Laughing

I've seen the AI climb back up the wall before, that might work also.

Ollllo:
wow - i do remember something like that and it came out around 2001 on a tv show or something......

I still need to confirm it or i hope you can upload a video of your technique ... if you grab the gun & ammo with the glass up it is more like a glitch

My version of the trick is based on realism & the thought of what would you do , if you had to grab the golden gun & did not want to risk your life figuring out the floor pattern.....

since you revealed one way of doing it -
which, by the way, in "realistic" terms it means the glass (if its up) turns out to be a holographic illusion.

I will tell the ridiculous long process that i came up "without risking Bond's life":

that afternoon, i devised the following methods:

FIRST shoot the gun & ammo) off the stone pillar (that does not work, since it is programmed to be there with super glue) and run to pick them up and scape before the autoguns kill you - FAILED

SECOND - destroy the glass - (it is indestructible) FAILED

THIRD , destroy the autoguns - then guess the floor patterns -
turns out this method works - they can be destroyed , but it is an exercise of endurance without cheats & i did not finalize it because at the end - you still have to use the floor pattern to lower the glass

So the FOURTH method came up & that's the one that allowed me to finish the level for the first time - and not use the floor pattern

the 4th is different because the glass is lowered -

If Aries's method lowers the glass it is not only the best method but also "realistic" as well -

--------One thing - it must be a hell to pull off in 00 and 007 difficulty ----

Well doing it on 00 agent is very hard. Takes speed that you need to run most of the time. But it can be done. Now i'm not sure but I think if i remember there more then one armor pick up right? If not then maybe we need to find a way up the wall where the door is. If we can go up the wall you be able to open the door. That is if its not lock on the outside.

I remember pulling this off once with out the armor. Just need to run and side step as fast as you can.

Olllllo here:

Well , 13 days it is -

I tried to duplicate Arie's method with no success at all -
However - i think it all came back to me now - the fool proof method -
I pulled it off using the console, but then i decided to
reveal it via 3D video, but the cosmos did no align correctly, Ñ's machine was off limits just for this, & this current thing lags like a grandpa in search of death

The challenge now is for any one to make a 3D video as close to this description as possible:

What time is it ?
Bondventure time!

(noodle limbed Bond shooting at you)

"Klobb like an egyptian"

Camera enters Bond's head - his point of view shifts to the left - at a distant threshold beyond the reflecting pool - he sees movement!

Bond quickly strafes to the right, towards the shadows, keeps a visual field of 45 degrees - he can see another large stone doorway or passage - more guards!
Bond keeps walking , in hopes that the shadows camouflaged his presence, but near the final pillar to the right of the threshold..
A guard - with his quick reflexes he fires "from the hip" takes a few steps back and disposes of the second guard, who in a foolish vengeful attempt rushed toward James, only to meet his doom.
Bond picks up the ZMGs

Beyond the threshold, only more pillars can be seen, to the right of his peripheral vision some small, dark passage, to the left another tall threshold, lots of light - he decides to to go towards the well lit area - beyond, Bond looks left - a passage full of indentations where enemies could hide , to the right a gigantic room, with huge round stone pillars -
Bond decides to enter the large room, gun battles in open spaces seem like a challenge to him.

But something does not seem right, so once again he sticks to the shadows, after the entering he sticks to the walls towards the left, and decides to go towards the last large pillar to hide and think what to do next -
As bond makes his way toward the pillar he can hear from the right a familiar laugh, & gunfire!
Samedi! right in the open - Bond tries goes to take cover behind the last pillar, fires some desperate shots in hopes of wounding his foe -
But Samedi follows with no regard - Bond leans and fires, hitting Samedi multiple times ,no result , Samedi only pauses but keeps his attacks relentless, Bond backpedals but keeps him within sight, showers Samedi with bullets again & this time they seem to hurt him - he keeps the pressure on the trigger - Samedi finally falls and Bond fires another 3 shots for good measure -
But wait, The corpse has vanished, 007 looks up as if the ceiling holds the explanation , and then the Laugh - this time echoing all over the chambers, seems to come from the very doorway that lead him to his current location -
Bond decides to go back & head towards the passage with the hiding spots. Half-way he can see the tip of a ZMG, 00 slowly walks towards it, mentally predicting his next move - He sidesteps, revealing his presence to the guard that moments before was oblivious to everything , before the guard reacts , James fires , the guard is finished -
But 007 regrets this - the loud bursts of the ZMG has attracted more guards - all coming out of their hiding spots - Bond runs back - guard steps echo everywhere - to the right the second threshold, beyond it a collection of smaller pillars , and beyond them the dark passage -
As Bond runs toward the darkness he can make out some stairs - he thinks that any amount of higher ground is good enough to provide the means of a good resistance - but the higher ground ends in darkness & a dead end - but wait - the wall to the left - a cool breeze.

Without knowing it, & with little concern of what lay beyond , 00 enters the room - surprisingly well lit , at a distance he sees short - squared pillars , the one in the center holds a Shiny object,
the Golden gun? as he walked toward it, darkened glass rises from the stone structure - at this point Bond realizes his back is vulnerable, half turns and sticks towards the wall to the left, his eyes scanning the threshold & whatever might come at him from behind the four stone pillars
What comes next makes 007 regret his entry to the chamber , he can hear the stone doorway closing he takes a few steps towards the passage from where he came, 00 realizes its too late, the sound of the closing mechanism seems definitive - he can sense there is no way out -
& remembers the shifting of the tiles beneath him -
the room is a trap.
taking cover once again, back towards the left wall, Bond cautiously steps, calculating his pressure as not to activate any more surprises - are there guards behind the stone pillars?
Bond tries to look for reflections on the dark glass....
With hopes that the shiny object within is some kind of switch to scape, bond fires at the glass enclosure - it cracks but there seems to be no effect, he tries to hit the same spot 4 times, other points repeatedly, and in desperation tries to get closer....
The pillars, they are stone Boxes!
they reveal a deadly metallic gleam, the mechanism whirs ominously ,
FIRE!
00 is hit - his bullet proof vest takes a powerful hit that helps Bond make his way back to the entry passage - after a certain distance the Guns stop,
and 00 tries to damage the first gun that he saw -
The gun turns and fires another burst - Bond hides once again -
is this the end?

Suddenly, the sound of heavy stone shifting -- behind?
No
Inside the chamber, steps enter the room, Bond peeks and sees a guard behind the first autogun to the left -
"Morbid little fellow" - Bond murmurs -
"came to see the results of their fancy mousetrap" he thought -
Luck shines on 00 - an scape route - while the baffled guard is looking for splattered blood, James makes a run for it, a safe little entry point in the left wall - the guns reactivate but James is determined,
he makes it barely, the stone walls begin to close behind him , shielding him from the gun fire -
Body armor!
& an exit !, Bond puts on the armor and hastily goes towards the exit..
more stone doors closing

Whoa! 8 feet or more above!
powered by adrenaline, his arms launch him back like springs to the safety of the elevated chamber - simultaneously
The sound of the glass mechanism calls his attention - the guard inside must have done something! heavy stone shifting and he is ready to open the doorway again!
The guard makes a fatal mistake, he deactivated the autoguns & in his rush to scape the chamber did not anticipate 007 -
James quickly disposes of him and enters the chamber once again - this time the stone enclosures cover the autoguns - and the glass covered prize is within reach-
Bond walks around the stone & glass enclosure looking for a switch, the tile in front gives way, the glass lowers - it's The Golden Gun!

I never bother to remember the correct pattern, but can get the Golden Gun and ammo without much hassle. Just run through the room, open up the door (you will most likely take at least one hit in the process), grab the armour, open the other door, then strafe just off the edge. The inner door will be triggered to close, and the maze reset. Immediately strafe back toward the doors, crouch down in the corner while strafing, and duck under the sliding stone slabs. Once in, you can just walk over to the tile in front of Francisco Scaramanga's famed weapon, and collect the riches. I'm unable to make a video, but it's easy to picture when you look at the area and watch the events unfold.
