If you have a Gameshark Pro, turn it on and before you start the game, choose code generator on. Then during the game press the button on the Gameshark. You can get to the Memory Editor from there.

But trust me, it's not easy to make all of these codes. I really have no idea how to hack and I don't understand how the hackers do most of the stuff they do. I just learned how to make easy codes like changing ammo, but they are pretty pointless.

If you really want to learn how, read this

Thanks. This seems a little more confusing than I thought.

From what I have seen, I have gained a general understanding of how the gameshark works, but first, you have to understand a little about how the console works.

Basically, its a computer, only with a catridge slot and a lot more of a prioterized goal. Stuff is loaded into the memory as it needs it, items, props, rooms and everything.

How a Gameshark works (To my best understanding) is it intercepts data going back and forth from the memory, in order to tweak or add many things, props, gun behaviors etc etc etc.

The Gameshark Memory Editor (Again, to my best understanding) simply dumps the current state of the memory onto your screen. This tool helps gameshark hackers know exactly what to tweak and how to tweak it, it gives them the information they need.

I think I you wanted information on how to tweak something specific, all you would have to do is make sure it is loaded into the memory(Swith to that weapon, load that map etc etc) and browse through the memory (probly would take a while) until you find what you need.

From there im fuzzy. Gameshark codes are in Hex, so um, gotta convert it, and I have no idea the real method for replacing something, my best guess woul be the address of what you want to replace and what you want to replace it with is in the code.

I should probly read that link mrjeffguy posted, It looks like a very good in depth explanation, although not Goldeneye specific or anything.

Any Gameshark Hackers please correct my general explanation if i'm wrong.

I'm about where you are. I understand how it works, but all of the hex codes and everything is where i start to get lost.

Hacking is not an easy thing to do

If you are familiar with it you can try emulating. Read the tutorial on this site for help. I recommend using 1964 as the emulator. You can get a Goldeneye ROM at ROM Reactor but I don't know where to get a GS ROM. Maybe someone can help you (and me) with that.
