Fantastic read.
I remember playing Timesplinters PS disc a while back. It was an interesting game. I personally liked the multiplayer. It's been so long I have absolutely no idea what the menus look like

That is one heck of an article.
To be honest though, I'm not surprised. Also, he is quite right: things really are getting worse and not just in the gaming industry, but with the general debasement of production.
The furnace is an interesting analogy; any sane person would be more interested in the souls thrown in than in the gold coming out. There is a lack of respect for all forms of direct production due primarily to ignorance, intensional or otherwise, to what is involved in it.
