currently making a level with Rey and every time I try to look up the sky duplicates itself with I previously looked at. I thought going to always direct clear mode would fix it but it is still happening. What is the solution? |

Hi yeR22 and welcome to the forums.
What you describe looks like you are using an emulator to run the hacked rom and the graphic plugin doesn't emulate the sky correctly. What plugin are you using? or are you having this issue on console too?
I remember when I started making my own hacks that even if the original rom had no afterimage, after I changed the rom then the sky will have this afterimage.
That's the reason why there are two GoldenEye: X patches, because a lot of graphic plugins don't emulate GE/PD skies properly.
I think this can be fixed by disabling the clouds in the sky. In the 21990 menu your sky RRGGBBCC should end in 00 (01 enables clouds).
But what you should really do (if the plugin is actually at fault) is updating to:
Glide 64 https://code.google.com/p/glidehqplusglitch64/downloads/list
or Jabo 1.6.1 http://www.jabosoft.com/articles/114
These plugins emulate GE skies correctly. I would recommend Glide 64 since it emulates a lot of framebuffer effects (PD uses lots of these) that no other plugin emulates.
Another thing that could be causing the sky issues, although I don't think this is the case, is when a custom background makes the player go to a certain height.
You see, the clouds are something like 50 meters above the ground (Y axis = 5000 units) and when Bond's POV rises above that point then the sky breaks in big and flickering triangles. It's a very discusting issue that can be fixed by disabling the clouds as I explained before.
Something similar happens with the sky-water (like the one in Frigate), when Bond goes around 7 meters underneath the ground (Y axis = -700 units). The water breaks in big triangles with slighty different shading that sometimes overlap with the background.
Most likely your issue is because of your graphic plugin and the sky should work fine once you update it. Anyway it should be fixed by disabing the clouds in the 21990 Menu.
If it keeps happening or it's a differente issue give us more info about it. Pics would be appreciated.
Good to hear Rey is coming back to making new levels and more people is joining the community. |

I can't run Glide on this computer so I do not use it. I'm using the normal Jabo's Direct plugin. We actually want the sky and the clouds within the level. If I knew how to post pictures here I would do so. But not sure of it at all. _________________ www.youtube.com/gamerrey23 |

Back in 1865 and OLD gameshark fart created some GE codes that emulate a beautiful FOG with no glitching. You can either use these values OR there was an update to PJ64 by JABO that fixes cloud issues and sky rendering. Doesn't help Perfect Dark BUT I think GE works correctly. Only FRIGATE still can't render the water textures.

Hi Rey,
Even if your computer can't run Glide64 it should be able to run Jabo 1.6.1 which can emulate GE skies (I think PD skies too). You should give it a try.
The sky should be fine with clouds and all, but the plugin you are using can't show it right.
As for pictures. You can register in Photobucket (I think you only need an email address or a facebook page) and upload your images there. Then post the link here.
I recommend you create a new email address for this kind of stuff, or you'll probably receive spam in your personal email. That's what I do. |

Jabo 1.6.1
Just ran it, and the sky is clear. I can't see the clouds but the sky is not the way yeR explained it. Weird, I ran the Other Normal plugin before with many custom levels and it never did that. If it did, I went to video settings, and checked always use texture filter. And the issue would go away. _________________ www.youtube.com/gamerrey23 |

Yea I don't think it will render clouds in pd. Just GE. Don't forget to set your rom settings EXACTLY as described in vaults tutorial. I think that may cause a memory issue. No more than 4mb of memory with GE. Change memory and cache. And you may have to make sure. AT THE FIRST CI CHANGE is selected in advanced settings. _________________ |
