What's the oldest video game, on any system (computer/console/arcade/etc) that you still play? Myself, I would have said probably Manic Miner or PSION Scrabble, as I still play them from time to time, when on the train (on the PSP's version of FUSE) mainly, and they are from 1983. But I do sometimes still play Mr Do! (my favourite ever arcade machine), which is from 1982, so I'll have to say Mr Do!, so the oldest video game I still play is thirty-one years old now.
I do occasionally play older arcade games that Mr Do!, such as Pacman, which came out in 1980, but I very rarely play this (usually to test a new version of MAME, for whatever machine I've just installed it to), and it's not a game I really enjoy nowadays, so I won't count it.
So, Mr Do!, and thirty one years for me. What's yours?
Note: If you're unsure what year a game was released in, then go to
gamefaqs.com
and enter the game title into the search box (top right hand side of the page), and click on the name when it's found (make sure it's for the right machine, or 'ARC' if it's for the arcade version), then click "Release data" to see the release date of the game. That's how I found out the release dates for Mr Do!, and Pacman. |

Pretty much any Nintendo game. That is the system that really got me into gaming. _________________ www.YouTube.com/hab007GE |

Killer Instinct 1 and 2 arcade. Mindblowing fighters from Rareware, it's no use playing the ports, go arcade and melt

With any regularity? Probably the original Super Mario Bros. or Mega Man. Usually give those a run at least once a year. Used to play a ton of (Ms.) Pac-man since it was pretty much the only arcade cabinet anyone had, but arcade cabinets in random stores are scarcer than arcades nowadays. |

Recently, Perfect Dark I guess. Mostly to test out the GameShark with. Otherwise, Jet Force Gemini, but that's only because I'm hacking it. I don't play many older games. _________________

Ha ha I still play the original Super Mario Bros from the NES system. Don't know why. But the original is by far the best Super Mario game in my honest opinion. _________________ There totally nothing to read here. |

There are several NES games I attempt every once in a while - Battletoads and Mission: Impossible. I beat Battletoads once many years ago before I knew it was considered the most difficult game of all time (also worth noting is that its made by Rare, the makers of goldeneye). My several times a year attempts have failed, though I have made it back to the tower a few times.
Mission Impossible is one of the most underrated games of all time for the NES - its not quite as difficult as Battletoads as I've beaten it twice.
But for really old games - that award doesn't go to a single game, but rather to a system - my Commodore 64. I have an old case of floppies and when I'm feeling really nostalgic (about once a year) I hook it up and give 10 or 15 games a play. There were a lot of great games for the c64, a few of my favorites being Maniac Mansion, Buck Rodgers - Countdown to Doomsday, Ultima IV Quest of the Avatar, and of course many of the arcade conversions. |

I often play NES games thanks to the Wii emulator. The oldest videogame of those is Super Mario BROS (1985) which I like to play as fast as I can until I die once (well, sometimes I even beat the game! hehe).
Last week I beated the very first console game I ever played, the first TMNT, without cheating (no savestates). I was so happy, it took me 22 years!
I beated Ninja Gaiden and Megaman 2 (in normal mode) when I was a kid, and beated the second TMNT without cheating a couple of years ago.
Now I'll have to play LowGman, I could never beat the final boss. |

I play "Lady Bug" almost daily.
It is from 1981, and still love it.
One of the best games ever made in my opinion.
Just if I would get back to 1981... |

The BEST designed original Nintendo games were Megaman 1-6, Blaster Master, Battletoads, Super Mario Bros, Legend of Zelda (ALL), Faxanadu, Metroid, and others . These games are CLASSICS and I still go back and play them because these games inspired game companies to set a HIGH standard for game design and game PLAY. The new stuff these days honestly is all about trying to astound you with graphics, etc. Don't get me wrong though, LOVE some of the new too but whether they go down as classics remains to be PROVEN.
The music in megaman and blaster master really set a standard for all games to follow back then.

CLASSIC:
They designed EVERYTHING instead of throwing together a piece of coded sh*t. Even when Megaman went to Sega and evolved into a japanimation extravaganza it was still AWESOME but much harder to play. lol Bravo to our origins and let's never forget who we owe
R E S P E C T for paving the path for the games we have today before ANYONE talks smack about low end graphics. I'd love to see a revival of NEW 8 bit NES games on a redesigned console shell for NES and Super Nintendo for my kids Games are becoming too realistic and DEFEAT the purpose of it being a GAME _________________

Since I'm a bit younger,I never played the NES much, only with friends, and my first gaming experiences were handhelds(game boy, game boy color).Next the N64.Later on I started to get interested in older games, and i met friends who own snes and nes consoles. They still own them,so I can go and have a retro game session when I like
And now that i think of it,I still play Super mario world, which is 1990.
However,if I need to be completely honest:I still play it on the gameboy advance(super mario advance 2:super mario world),2001.
but it's right, games used to be great in those days, and they still are.
too bad,but game companies seem to have lost their innovative spirit |
