Once again: Absolutely. Loved both games. Haven't played 'em in ages though. _________________

I've played all three on the N65 (San Fransisco Rush, San Fransisco Rush 2, and Rush 2049) and all three are great. I'm not a big fan of racing games, but I liked these three as they were more arcade-ish in style, with lots of huge jumps and no emphasis on reality.
The first game, I think, had better trackes overall than the second, but the second had more and had a track (well, area) specifically for stunts, plus a half-pipe track. The third game was the best of them all, I think. It has the unique (as far as I know) feature that when you are in mid air (via a ramp or whatever) if you hold down FIRE on the joypad then wings emerge from your car and you can control the orientation (and so partly control the short term gliding) of your car. I thought this would ruin the game, but it actually makes the game a lot better. Plus there are now four stunt tracks in the game, as well as the six great racing tracks that Rush 2049 offers.
Also, all three of the games allow you to quadruple the number of racing tracks (sort of), by allowing you to reverse and/or mirror the tracks. Certainly not as good as genuinely having four times as many tracks, but it's a good compromise, and it is fun to race around the tracks the wrong way (which is the right way if you reversed the map setting, of course).
Another great racing game on the N64 is Beetle Adventure Racing. It's tracks are very good indeed, and I think this is the best arcade-ish racer on the N64. It only has six tracks, which is the same number as Rush 2049 admittedly (although the latter game also has the stunt tracks), but unlike Rush 2049, Beetle Adventure Racing doesn't allow you to mirror or reverse the tracks. But Beetle Adventure Racing's tracks are *fantastic*, really really good, much better than any of the three Rush games, or any racers I've played on any machine. A very good game that I'd recommend to any racing fan. |

Wounder if it is still up. Real funny playing it online. _________________ www.youtube.com/gamerrey23 |

Rush2 is probably my most favorite game on N64 (after GE and PD of course).
I had the first two games on N64 and played both HUGE amounts.
I wasted sooo much money of the arcade version of SF Rush too.
First had better tracks and it was tougher.
Always played "Deaths" ON, made it more menacing experience.
Second game made the two player mode much better by increasing the framerate, also the controls were much smoother and there was more stuff to find.
Excellent games even for those who usually don't mind of driving games. Just for the adventure. |

This bar/restaurant has Rush 2049 cabinet. It's so silky sick, even sporting a clutch pedal
What I find really odd is why was Rush 2 an N64 exclusive |

Are you talking about the arcade version? Cause that is just so much fun when playing on Manual. Even cruisin ones. _________________ www.youtube.com/gamerrey23 |

Oh yes!!!! I thought these games were so ADDICTIVE!! Excellent gameplay and love the long tracks. I raced many a night jumping over stuff to get ahead. They should remake it with todays graphics but keep the game the same. Now I'll have to get these puppies. Good thread! _________________ |

Rush 2049 is one of my favorite games in general.
Had a chance to play the full 6-track online sit-down version of 2049 back in Chicago. Pretty sure it's still there and hooked up. 2049 on N64 certainly had the best soundtrack of all the iterations, although Dreamcast had the most accurate courses to arcade.
Interestingly, the PAL version had more unlockable options in it, like randomized weapon locations.
Made some codes (and converted to patches) allowing 4-player races with bots, and it's easier to toggle on some codes like battle paintshop that way. I don't suggest you play with a full bot set in the last stage, but then it acts up a bit no matter what you do.
Well, also RE'd the level setup and model formats at one point too. _________________ (\_/) Beware

Codes.....for 2049 I only managed to get the cheat menu up but never ever managed to get a code up. Those button codes are hard to do. _________________ www.youtube.com/gamerrey23 |

Lets see...this patch activates 3-4 player races and automatically unlocks all cheats in the menu. No more button codes! There's one for PAL and NTSC.
http://www.mediafire.com/download/mc8ir3lkjcmcigj/Rush2049-4p_races.zip
If you prefer not to use a patch, here's some NTSC GameShark codes.
(I can try to do PAL on request)
This allows 3-4 player races:
"Race 3-4pl." .off
813B468E 0101
803B4695 0001
803B4696 0001
This adds bot support in:
"Bots in 3-4 Races" .off
D138ACF8 2878
8038ACFB 0005
800C9DD3 0005
(Note that last one doesn't play nice with emulators!)
There's other possible combinations as well. You can enable any race for any number of players if you play around with the flags.
You can obviously check any cheat site for the cheat unlock or force-enable codes. _________________ (\_/) Beware
