Hello, I just joined. I don't mean to be rude, lazy, or just an annoyance all together.

I've had an idea for an ultimate Goldeneye hack that I dubbed "007 Legacy". I think we all can agree that 007 Legends was not the 50th anniversary celebration that Bond fans have been waiting for. I've always been a fan of Goldeneye N64 , and from what I've seen, the hacking community still is as well.

Using the Goldeneye engine (or Perfect Dark, whatever would be more convenient), players will be able to play as Bond (Connery, Lazenby, Moore, Dalton, Brosnan, and Craig-each in the movie that they starred in, I'll explain) in a level from each of the 22 remaining Bond films (Goldeneye is taken care of IMO. Die Another Day is debatable, I'm not sure if TWINE should be done because the N64 version was pretty good).

I've thought of the levels that IMO would fit for each movie.

Connery 1962-1967:

1. Dr. No-Dr. No's Lair (Bond has to escape from prison, retrieve his PPK, or PP7 as the game calls it, kill Dr No-because of the system limitations, he'd have to be shot-save Honey Ryder, and escape)

2. From Russia With Love-The Train (Bond must go through the train to find and eliminate Red Grant before Grant kills him first?)

3.Goldfinger-Fort Knox (Bond must race to diffuse the nuclear bomb in Fort Knox, and kill Oddjob) I AM aware of Goldfinger 64...and I wouldn't want to steal their thunder, though Confused

4. Thunderball- Embarrassingly, I can't think of a good level for this one Confused

5. You Only Live Twice-Blofeld's Volcano Lair (pretty obvious what Bond needs to do here)

Lazenby 1969

6.On Her Majesty's Secret Service-Piz Gloria (Similar to what Legends did, just without the helicopter minigun, and handled better. Bond must stop Blofeld from releasing the Angels of Death, and rescue Tracy)

Connery 1971

7.Diamonds Are Forever-Opening Revenge on Blofeld OR Oil Rig (I like the opening for the line "Welcome to Hell, Blofeld"...but who knows? On the Oil Rig, Bond must destroy Blofeld's helicopter, preventing his escape. Bond must also set the rig to explode, then escape)

Moore 1973-1985

8.Live and Let Die- Kananga's Caverns-(After Bond has dispatched Baron Samedi, Bond must traverse Kananga's underground lair, disable security, eliminate Kananga, and escape)...I have a bad feeling that this level would cause a lot of racist accusations though Confused

9.The Man With THe Golden Gun: Scaramanga's Funhouse (Bond has accepted Scaramanga's duel request. Scaramanga is the ONLY opponent in this level, armed with the Golden gun. Bond must sneak to get out alive)

10. The Spy Who Loved Me- Alantis (Backed by both the Russian and American forces, Bond must reprogram the nukes headed for Britain and New York, save Anya Amasova, and, you guessed it, escape. Jaws can be in this level)

I will continue the list....this post is already miles long.

Each level's theme will be the movie's theme (For example, Dr. No has the Bond theme, Goldfinger has Shirley Bassey's hit song....etc) One poster.ShiftClick, is ahead of me and I like his work.

I do realize that this hack would take YEARS for a single hacker to complete, so this would have to be a team effort (I wish I could pay willing hackers, but this is on a zero budget Crying or Very sad ) (Nobody HAS to, if they don't want to, this is just an idea) There are also technical problems that are sure to come up. So, if anyone would like to do a level, feel free to, just post which one you are doing? I also know that this is all just may be a pipe dream, but it'd be cool, don't you think?

To be honest, if you just stay away from too many different unique objects, it is perfectly do-able right now without a lot of complication. There is a cap on music length, but not really on number of samples.

The general rules:
  1. Low poly works best.
  2. Stay under the image cap.
  3. Stay under the model cap.
  4. Recycle what you need from GE and delete the rest.

From what you outlined it doesn't seem there would be a whole terrible lot of scripting that isn't possible without resorting to hacking.

A fair number of those characters have even been created. The majority of the work would be making the various stages, each of which can (at least for now) be stand-alone. Mock-ups of layouts based on the original locations would probably serve best, then fitting the scenario to them (instead of the other way around, which is more common in development nowadays).

Surprisingly, as far as crazy, off-the-wall ideas go, this has to be one of the saner ones posted ;*)

It's definitely a cool idea, but like GF64, quite a bit of work, as you said, years, and we need to finish GF64 first!!! There's also some crossover. Technical-wise, you should be fine, as the road was paved and paved hard by GF64. As a new person to our community, I also suggest you get a very good grasp of how to use the GE Editor and modelling, etc, before even attempting this. But also welcome!

It sounds like a pretty awesome hack, however, like Subdrag said, it can take a while to learn not only the basics of the GE Setup Editor, but you should play around with the more advanced features before undertaking this.

Good luck! Cool
