What's the definitive way to get the sky/skybox to render?

Hi,

I'm using Project64 1.6 with Jabo's Direct3D8 1.6 GFX plug-in. However, the skybox does not render. It is just black. There doesn't seem to be a clear tutorial on how to get this working. I'm assuming it's something simple that I've missed.

Any help is appreciated,

T

You need either Jabo 1.6.1 or Glide.

Here's Jabo's 1.6.1

and here is Glide's

Most HLE plugins don't bother emulating the low-level RDP triangle functions, and these are used for both the sky and water. It's actually a 4 sided triangle if that makes any sense.
In addition to the two mentioned above, low-level emulators such as MESS and Cen64 should handle these automatically.

Water tends to be rendered worse than sky, so don't expect console-perfect results.

Thanks very much, both of you. 1.6.1 got it working. I wasn't expecting miracles from the get go, but even on fairly old hardware it runs very well. It's hard to see how using an actual N64 would be preferable at this stage, but maybe I'll get one at some point to check.

It's surprising how enjoyable this game is 15+ years on.

Happy Bonding!
