Gidday guys,

I've got a complete in box copy of Ocarina of Time collectors edition. Tiny amount of burring on the corner of the box, but everything is immaculate apart from that. Cartridge has never even been used (I'm actually too scared!). When I brought it it didn't have the plastic wrap for whatever reason, and I've actually only opened it up once...too scared to do that again now too!

With life changing I've decided it's probably time to shuffle this item on. I brought it for $30, and just want to ask if anyone should know what price I should be looking at getting for it online?

Also I suppose if anyone wants it I'm open for that too.

It's usually good to check out an auction site like eBay to see what the average price is, but that can be tricky. N64 stuff can fetch a pretty penny nowadays, so some sellers jack the price up like crazy hoping to make a mint. Any game that has been graded high has some ridiculous number attached to it, though I can't see anyone in their right mind paying thousands (not to say that everyone online is exactly sane). All I know is, Nintendo 64 games are only appreciating in value.

Just about retail price Question

CIB ? Box and all paperwork/inserts then list for $35-$45 (just hopeful is tested before ship ..!!) and you'll find a buyer/taker in zero time 0.o

Cheers for the feedback guys - I did have a look around the webs and found copies that had sold at nearly 300 and others that just hadn't budged at 60 - Not really sure what to gauge it at.

Or I can just leave it in my cabinet, look at it occasionally, smile and think "This is gold, all my life I've been in love with its color... its brilliance, its divine heaviness - and it's MINE!" lol

It really comes down to two things; timing, and bidders. If an item is up at the right time and at least two dedicated collectors are there to bid on it, there's some good money to be made. But, if it goes up when nobody with a combination of desire and deep pockets is around to see it, than it can go for a steal. The important thing is to try and get what you want out of it. If it goes for more, all the better. Just don't let it go for less than the amount you think it's worth to you.

Actually, there are enough sold (completed) listings on ebay to come up with a fairly precise value for what you have.

Based on what you've described, your item should be worth at the very high end of complete in box sales, listed as "used."

The highest completed listing in the past several months went for $147. The next one down went for $134.

Of the new, sealed listings, the cheapest went for $142 and $151, and then considerably upwards from there.

So I would place a value on what you have between $140 and $150.

@Wreck: I know what you mean about the bidding. I'm in NZ so might look at selling it on trademe as the N64 scene is still surprisingly strong and it saves having to deal with international details.

@bmw: thanks for that information! I looked at a few of them on ebay and they just didn't seem to be moving - it's a funny one sometimes and really a boxed game has no *technical* worth when it's easy to download as a ROM.

I might look at setting the reserve to a price that's OK for me and going from there - however I'd still rather sell it to cheap to someone I know who'd appreciate it!

Thanks a heap!

With the way ebay is structured today, your best bet IMO is to list it with a Buy it Now that is fair but a little more than you expect to get (say, $160) and accept best offers. Then if people make offers you can decide whether or not to sell. This is usually better than setting a reserve.

Best Offers are great, too. I use that option fairly often when buying things. And the nice part is, if you aren't satisfied with the amount someone comes up with, you can send them a Counter-Offer. Kind of like haggling at a flea market. It can go back and forth until someone gives in or backs out. Heck, I just saved a whopping fifty cents the other day on a SM64 Japanese boxed set! Razz

But seriously, bidders can sometimes save a few bucks on things, which makes them feel almost proud in some sense. I did save around $8 USD on a GoldenEye Australian Players Choice boxed set, since I messaged the seller and asked if they'd consider lowering the price a bit. If the item has been up for a while with no bites, you have better luck with that.

Now, if I can just get my hands on that bloody Brazilian copy...
