Is there another software I could use other than Hammer Editor, for me to create Perfect Dark/GoldenEye Levels? |

You can use almost any as long as eventually can get to obj/mtl. |

I would use Blender. Hammer doesn't use that old technology. TRIS are specific to N64. VRML is Virtual Modelling language. Subdrag built the editor with .obj in mind. Hammer would just be a loooong step around if you are trying to model levels for N64. _________________ |

Uhm, triads are used in every geometry-based modeling format. Anything else is a special-case.
Blender is a professional tool with a high learning curve, whereas other game editors like Hammer simplify basic geometry generation. I would suggest DeleD CE as well for ease of use. I believe it also has features to simplify geometry, dropping the tri count in case you load in a complex object as a base model. However, any program that can spit out wavefront files directly or indirectly would work fine.
Obj is used for import mostly because virtually any modeling application can generate it in one shape or form. Internally everything in the editor is rendered with directX--technically it can be extracted from the editor this way too with the right tools. _________________ (\_/) Beware

Been using DeleD for years, and I can safely say that its the best 3D modeler for any games that you need to keep a good eye on polygons. Blender is also good, but way, WAY to complex for many beginner mappers. You should check out DeleD at this website.

Do bare in mind though. You need to setup some settings within the model maker.
This thread will be very helpful if you use DeleD.

Forgot how much useful information there was in that thread. Sorry about the images, I have no idea what's going on with my webspace: the entire domain has been unreachable for a few days now and I haven't heard from my host in ages. |
