The title abbreviates for pog. Pog isn't one of my games.

Wondering what board/card/ect. games you play offline in the meantime unless online has taken over much of your free time. Lets list games that aren't really emulated and/or on console.

I'm going to limit mine to the current top five.

Chess, Magic, Settlers of Catan, Scrabble, Risk.

These are well-known games. Is there anything obscure out there you play? Should I exclude poker?

Chess simply rules

As for gambling I never even attempted it as for their silly card games there's 20 f*cking rules that I'll never remember

I wanna learn Monopoly but I hear that's also a load-of-BS-game

It's so awesome that Settlers has become a "mainline" game. Geesh, I had to order mine (and the 6pl. expansion) from Mayfair way back when.

Closest thing to "!?" we play is Illuminati, one of many crazy games from Steve Jackson Games. You might be more familiar with their Munchin series, also a favorite. About the only jerk thing about Illuminati is you actually need to have a large number of people to avoid a bottleneck.

We're also finishing up a pen-and-paper game based off the Dark Heresy ruleset, except the setting is within the Equalist movement from the Legend of Korra universe. The ruleset is pretty easy to apply to anything, but it's a bit odd since in this particular case there isn't high character turnover like usual.
That said, in my last (real) Dark Heresy game all four of my Arbites survived despite the GM going out of their way to murder them. Fun stuff though--these guys were all clones from Krieg and had a Judge Dredd complex, believing they are physical manefestations of the Emperor's law. It was freaking hilarious.

Forgot to menation DnD and other tabletop games. Best to avoid any adventure that auto-kills the party. Though you can choose to play adventures that allow the party to sneak in as an option. But like every game one ability/rule can make many others obsolete.

On board:
Chess of course. Backgammon.
Monopoly and Trivial Pursuit are fine too.

With cards:
Netrunner (the original, not the bad Android:Netrunner), MtG

Pen and Paper RPGs:
Cyberpunk2020 and RuneQuest (mostly 3rd edition), some others every now and then.

Others:
Pinballs and other arcade when I can. The older, the better. Mostly from late 70's to early 90's.
