There's an old first person shooter called Powerslave (or Exhumed, as it was known in Europe for some reason), that was released for the PC (DOS), the Playstation, and the Sega Saturn. Apparently, the console versions were superior to the PC version in lots of ways (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PowerSlave for more information).

Turns out that for the past year or so, Kaiser (a fan of the game), has been creating a PC version of the Sega Saturn game, and a week or so back he released a beta version, and then a patch. But since then, he's removed the downloads, and there's a rumour that he's received a cease and desists order, though he's not yet confirmed or denied this on his web site (https://powerslaveex.wordpress.com/about/). But according to the WIkipedia page

"On May 24, 2015, an unofficial remake based on the PlayStation version was released by Samuel "Kaiser" Villarreal for free. In a May 2015 interview, it was announced that publisher Night Dive Studios had acquired the game rights for a digital distribution re-release."

Still, the downloads have been mirrored for anyone to try, and even though there are still bugs in the game, and the game does (so I've read) feel off from the console game in some small ways, the game has been played through to completion so even if, as is feared, Kaiser never releases any more bugfixes, at least it's possible to play through the entire game. Get both the game and the patch in one zip file from

Incidentally, Kaiser is the person who brought Doom 64 (the N64 version of Doom) to the PC. Doom 64 has different levels to the PC's Doom 1 and Doom 2, plus one new weapon, a couple of new enemies, and better graphics, and is widely considered to be a better Doom 3 than the official game that id Software gave us called Doom 3. So if you like Doom 1 and 2, but not Doom 3, then give Doom 64 EX a go.
